From the Adelaide Equestrian Festival to the Autumn Garden Festival, there is plenty to see and do across the state this weekend.

Gather & Graze

April 18

Gather and graze at Kingsford the Barossa as the operators of Abelsway Farm in the Hallelujah Hills join guests in the Peppertree Bar for the afternoon. Guests are welcomed with a drink on arrival and a snack, as well as an education on the produce. There is a curated main course of Abelsway Farm chicken paired with a glass of wine. The autumn afternoon is all about getting to know the makers themselves in a cosy and casual setting.

Adelaide Equestrian Festival

April 16-19

The Adelaide Equestrian Festival showcases the best of riders and horses in Australia and New Zealand. The festival, held in Adelaide’s CBD, displays horsemanship across three disciplines of dressage, cross country and show jumping. There will also be shopping, hospitality, interactive activities for the kids and a main arena performance from award-winning musician Tom Curtain.

SA Autumn Garden Festival

April 19

Held in the peak of the season, the SA Autumn Garden Festival returns to celebrate gardening, sustainability, health and community for its 15th year. The one-day event brings together some of the country’s most respected gardening voices, including Gardening Australia’s Costa Georgiadis and South Australian Sophie Thomson, sharing practical insights. Expect plants for purchase from local growers, live music, local food and drinks, and a dedicated children’s area. The SA Autumn Garden Festival is on at the Clare Showground and entry is $15 for adults, or free for children under 18.

SALT Festival

April 17-26

This 10-day Southern Eyre Peninsula festival launches its program with the Adelaide Guitar Festival “Shows on the Road” showcasing world-class musicians in Port Lincoln. Across the festival, you’ll enjoy an array of the region’s best music, art, talks, workshops, and regional food & drink. The headliners include ARIA award-winning ‘wizard’ guitarist Slava Grigoryan, followed by energetic duo Hussy Hicks, and soulful singer-songwriter Nathan May. The festival will highlight local artists Swapstock, Charlee Watt and Jodi Martin, as well as a duo of comedy musicals by George Glass. “With a program that blends superb performance and artistry with charming coastal vibes, SALT Festival embodies the warm and welcoming spirit that makes this region so iconic,” Minister for Tourism Zoe Bettison says.

South Australia Master Games

April 16-20

The South Australian Master Games will take place at Victor Harbor, allowing athletes over the age of 30 to participate in a comprehensive program of different sports at all ability levels. This event is open to existing and new members allowing social to seasoned athletes to engage in the fun. This event is about creating community and connections with great sportsmanship while showcasing the regions sporting facilities, environment, local businesses and attractions.

The Riddle of Washpool Gully

April 16-18

Produced by the Dead Poets Society, The Riddle of Washpool Gully illustrates a mythical adventure displaying a world of magic. Set in an Australian creek bed, the story is an Australian tale of the creatures that still could be hidden in the corners of the enchanting country. This production, on at the Space Theatre, beautifully blends contemporary puppetry and miniature sets for anyone over the age of six to enjoy.

ACSA Mind Maps Exhibition

April 21

Next week Adelaide Central School of Art officially opens its latest exhibition Mind Maps, an atlas of internal and interpersonal topographies, featuring work by Roy Ananda, Zaachariaha Fielding, Richard Lewer, Debbie Pryor and Laura Wills. Using found maps and cartographic processes the exhibiting artists explore routes between family and community, traverse realms of imagination, and trace the familiar paths of personal anxieties. This exhibition is showing until Friday, May 15 and the opening celebration event is next Tuesday, April 21.
