This weekend, the state comes alive with the Gather Round Festival of Footy or you can soak in all of the off field action at the Norwood Food and Wine Festival.

Norwood Food and Wine Festival

April 12

Coinciding with Gather Round The Parade’s cafes, bars and restaurants celebrate food, wine and craft beverages as they spill out onto the street. The street festival features live music and entertainment, market stalls and all of the Gather Round action is showing on the big screen at Norwood Oval. Entry is free and Australian electronic duo The Presets wrap up the night on the open-air stage.

Gather Round

April 9-12

AFL Gather Round returns this weekend, bringing every team in the Australian Football League to South Australia for one festival weekend of footy. With five games at Adelaide Oval, two games at Barossa Park and two games at Norwood Oval its a great excuse to get out and see the state this weekend. The action kicks off as Adelaide Crows takes on Carlton on Thursday night, and wraps up as Port Power go head-to-head with St Kilda o Sunday night, both games taking place at Adelaide Oval. Outside of the game, there’s food and wine events, activities and entertainment over a four-day celebration.

RBG: Of Many, One

April 10 to May 2

State Theatre Company South Australia presents RBG: Of Many, One at the Dunstan Playhouse after a sold-out national tour, opening this Friday. Written by Suzie Miller and directed by Priscilla Jackson, the play depicts the pivotal moments of the life of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and stars Heather Mitchell. It explores Ginsburg’s triumphs and struggles as the second woman appointed to the United States Supreme Court, and follows her powerful advocacy for gender equality and women’s reproductive rights, changing the face of the legal system.

Footloose the Musical

April 11-19

Footloose The Musical is on at Her Majesty’s Theatre for a remastered production of ’80s fun oozing with nostalgia. The soundtrack features hits such as Holding Out for a Hero, Almost Paradise and the iconic title track, Footloose. Follow the story of Ren McCormack’s life in a town where dancing is outlawed as this feel-good story showcases the electrifying choreography and talent of Australian performers.

McLaren Vale Vintage & Classic

The McLaren Vale Vintage & Classic returns this year, celebrating its 20th anniversary. This event draws thousands of visitors to celebrate motoring heritage, exquisite wine and community. Motor vehicles roll through McLaren Vale’s Main Street, with festivities continuing at local wineries including Lloyd Brothers, Kay Brothers, Hastwell & Lightfoot, Chalk Hill, Leconfield, Shirvington, Serafino, Ekhidna Kitchen, Goodison Brewery and Paxton. Vehicles are on display at the wineries, accompanied by live entertainment and family-friendly activities.

Gather Round Sensory Screenings

This Gather Round season Hoyts at Norwood is ensuring everyone can enjoy the footy as they host sensory-friendly screening sessions. Families living with autism or sensory needs will be able to experience the adrenaline as three games are shown on the big screen on Sunday, April 12 only.

SAHMRI Beating Heart Light Show

April 8-12

As part of the AFL Gather Round Festival of Footy, SAHMRI’s iconic North Terrace building transforms into a striking red “beating heart” on the Adelaide skyline. For 10 minutes every half hour from 6pm to midnight, the installation brings the city to life — a rhythmic, glowing symbol of connection, community and cutting-edge research. The light show reflects SAHMRI’s role as the beating heart of health and medical research in South Australia — advancing breakthroughs in heart and brain health, nutrition, performance and lifelong wellbeing. SAHMRI is also hosting a special community luncheon, Where Elite Sport Meets Elite Science, on Friday, April 10.
