From Mourning in the Morning to a range of local exhibitions and fireworks, there is plenty to do in Adelaide this long weekend.

Mourning in the morning | Monday, January 26

Honour the traditional owners of the land and their deep histories, cultures and perspectives at Mourning in the Morning. Presented by the Australia Day Council of SA, the smoking ceremony aims to continue to create a respectful and inclusive event led and shaped by South Australian First Nations community leaders. Mourning in the Morning takes place in Elder Park/Tarntanya Wama on the banks of the River Torrens/Karrawirra Parri.

Brighton Jetty Sculptures | January 21-February 1

The state’s biggest sculpture exhibition returns from January 21 to February 1. Presented by the Brighton Surf Life Saving Club, Brighton Jetty Sculptures features spectacular instillations by local artists along the Brighton Esplanade, as well as a display of outdoor and indoor sculptures in Bindarra Reserve. The artworks are available for purchase, with all proceeds supporting the artists and beach safety. The sculptures are free to view daily and artworks are available for purchase.

Treasured Exhibition | Until Saturday, February 14

The City of Prospect is celebrating the works of the late South Australian artist Annette Bezor with its Treasured exhibition. The exclusive showcase offers a rare chance to not only view a curated selection of the internationally acclaimed work, but to also purchase it. All proceeds are being donated to Minton Farm Animal Rescue Centre and Freedom Hill Sanctuary. Treasured is showing at Newmarch Gallery in Prospect.

Lights on the River | Monday, January 26

A dynamic and free event lights up the banks of the river on Monday, serving as a reminder that we are all part of the story. Aus Lights on the River at Elder Park/Tarntanya Wama showcases the state’s story through immersive, visually engaging light, vision and sound installations. Highlights include live performances from guest artists including The Festival Statesmen and the Adelaide Youth Orchestra, as well as a fireworks display to end the evening on a high.

Woodstock Revisited | Saturday, January 24

Celebrate love, peace and harmony as Woodstock Revisited brings the spirit of Woodstock ’69 to Adelaide this Saturday at Her Majesty’s Theatre. A historic catalogue of 60’s hits from iconic artists including Janis Joplin, The Who, Creedence Clearwater Revival and Joe Cocker, delivered by a line-up of six local acts. Expect three hours of passion, power and timeless anthems.
