
This weekend, celebrate the beginning of ‘Pridevember’ at Mary’s Poppin or experience a slice of Korea in Adelaide as OzAsia continues.
Join Adelaide’s queer community for a joyful celebration of LGBTQI+ pride at Poppin Out. This open-air street party is the official post-march destination following Adelaide’s annual Pride March and also marks the beginning of Adelaide’s annual Feast Festival. There’ll be drag queens, DJs and pop royalty, including dance-pop and electro house sensation Havana Brown, drag superstar Tiara Skye and Joanne – the voice behind Australian dance classic Jackie. The evening also stars drag queens Art Simone, Karen From Finance, Champagne, Lazy Susan, Popchops, Indi Klosette, Anna Kei and Xai. Poppin Out takes place at Mary’s Poppin and Synagogue Place on Saturday, November 1, following the Pride March that kicks off in Rymill Park from 5pm.

Experience a slice of Soul’s cultural hub Hongdae in Adelaide this weekend and indulge authentically. Korean fried chicken, tteokbokki and kimchi pancakes are just some of the street food classics on offer local eateries. Whether you’re a foodie or a K-culture fan the lively street party will have something for everyone with K-pop performances and traditional games providing entertainment for all ages. You can find Hongdae in Adelaide at 12 Eliza Street on Saturday, November 1, from 11am to 11pm. If you are looking for something beyond the taste of Korea, the Lucky Dumpling Market has flavours from across Asia on offer all weekend in Elder Park until it wraps up on November 9.

Venture into BMG Art on Halifax Street this weekend for a joint Mixed Media Painting exhibition featuring works by Madeleine Collopy and Nate Finch. Madeleine’s installation, titled Taking Shape, explores the transitions between darkness and light through abstract, textural paintings that employ a restrained palette of deep blues, greens and warm browns. Nate’s part of the exhibition, Recent Works, explores the relationship between mark intensities, colour harmonies and surface textures. This exhibition opens Friday, October 31, at 6pm and will be showing until Saturday, November 22.

North Terrace will be transformed into an intimate musical journey for all ages. Chamber Music Adelaide is hosting more than 50 concert performances with the backdrop of some of Adelaide’s landmark cultural buildings. The mini festival promises a diverse celebration of music, from classical to contemporary and everything in between. Ngaanyatjarra Pitjantjatjara musician Vonda Last, alongside Larrakia guitarist Daniel Fejo, will explore Indigenous history and cultural identity, and migrant composers including Meta Overman, Felix Werdner and Larry Sitsky also promise highlight performances. Composer Jodie O’Regan will also premiere her new major work Leviathan inspired by South Australia’s whaling history. On The Terrace is on Sunday, November 2, from 11am to 4pm.

The annual Uraidla and Summertown Show returns to the picturesque Adelaide Hills. An array of food, wine and gin from across the region is on show, alongside rides, animals and staple events including log chopping, yard dogs and trebuchet. The event is on at the Uraidla Showgrounds on Sunday, November 2, from 9am until 9.30pm.

Don your fanciest fascinator and head to SkyCity Adelaide on November 4 for Melbourne Cup at The Kitchen, hosted in partnership with SALIFE magazine and the Jodi Lee Foundation. Indulge in canapés, a three-course meal and free-flowing bubbles while the Melbourne Cup is broadcast live on screens throughout the venue. SALIFE editor Zoe Rice will MC the event, while SALIFE fashion editor Emma Riemersma and stylist Michelle Beltrame will judge the best dressed in the Fashions Off the Field competition. Rock spectacular Bat Out of Hell: The Musical makes its world premiere as it hits cinemas across Australia this weekend. Following its successful UK run Jim Steinman and Meat Loaf’s iconic rock opera stars the iconic West End cast and delivers some of the duo’s greatest hits like I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That) and Paradise by the Dashboard Light. Bat Out of Hell: The Musical promises full-throttle power and passion for theatre lovers and Meat Loaf enthusiasts alike, in cinemas from October 30.
