Fellowship of the Stig

The Music Development office has revealed the latest round of recipients for the long-running Stigwood Fellowship. Named after Port Pirie-born music, film and theatre producer, and longtime Bee Gees manager Robert Stigwood, the program was introduced by the Weatherill government in 2014.

The 2026 artist streams include indie folk five-piece Any Young Mechanic, singer-songwriter Effie Isobel, solo soul project Maybe Hugo, pop punk outfit Molly Rocket, and ‘straight outta Melrose’ rock group Kurralta Park.

On the industry front, four projects have been awarded fellowships including promo platform Band Banta, coastal indie label Daybed Records, “queers, freaks and grrrls”-friendly gig promoter Runt! Records, and artist-run label capslock records, who InReview profiled in December.

As usual, there are some interesting connections throughout this cross-section of the South Australian music scene, with close ties between capslock records and Any Young Mechanic, and Kurralta Park releasing their debut album through Daybed Records.

The program offers up to $25,00 in funding for each recipient out of a $125,000 funding pool, along with mentorship across songwriting, production, marketing and business development.

Central market’s wall order

With construction on the Adelaide Central Market expansion due for completion – doubling the market’s footprint in the process – the Adelaide Central Market Authority is on the hunt for artists to add some more colour to the city’s iconic food destination.

Artists and creatives are invited to submit expressions of interest, with the Market expecting to appoint a handful of creative teams or individuals to take on four internal sites within the soon-to-be-unveiled expansion.

According to the announcement, they’re looking for designs that “resonate with the heart of Market life” and “evoke fun, joy, and colour, reflecting the authenticity and connection that define the South Australian spirit”.

“We are looking for artists who can capture the energy of our Market and community, and turn it into a visual legacy that locals and visitors will enjoy for decades to come,” Adelaide Central Market General Manager Fabienne Reilly says ”

Applications for this paid opportunity close Monday March 2, details here.
