This weekend, experience SA’s beautiful outdoors at Nature Festival or head to Light Square’s ILA for TIMELIGHT “Beyond our ticking world”.
South Australia’s beautiful outdoors will be on full display from September 26 to October 12 for the sixth Nature Festival. This year’s theme of “Flow” informs the more than 400 events spread across the state, which include everything from art to music, film, food, family activities and Aboriginal cultural events. Some must-sees at the open-access festival include interactive installations by Fallow at the Adelaide Botanic Garden and Art Gallery of South Australia, and a “regenerative” music performance at Yankalilla’s Lot 50 featuring musicians Maes and Naomi Keyte, while artist-in-residence Laura Wills will create an incredible “river portrait”.
The world premiere of TIMELIGHT “Beyond our ticking world”, invites visitors to rethink the binary notion of time as they interact with giant, wall-to-wall LED screens. Travel to an alternate universe where time bends and stretches, be teleported to a land of pulsing lights and ticking clocks, or watch the history of our world flash before your eyes. This ticketed exhibition was created by Berlin-based multidisciplinary studio, flora&faunavisions, and is on at Light Square’s ILA every Wednesday to Sunday at various times throughout the day from September 26 until October 26.
The world’s best nature photographers will be celebrated in the coming months for the Wildlife Photographer of the Year. Marking its 60th anniversary this year, the exhibition is touring from the Natural History Museum in London. More than 59,000 entries were submitted from 117 countries and territories, with that number eventually whittled down to 100 finalists. You can expect to see photographs capturing everything from a manatee with its calf to a young toque macaque sleeping in an adult’s arms. This ticketed exhibition takes place at Adelaide Botanic Garden’s Bicentennial Conservatory from September 26, 2025, to February 1, 2026.
Andrew Lloyd Webber’s famous musical, CATS, returns to Adelaide for the first time in almost 10 years to celebrate the 40th anniversary of its Australian debut. This West End production follows a clowder of cats who gather for the annual Jellicle Ball to decide who will ascend to The Heaviside Layer and be born anew. Webber’s iconic score will be brought to life by a cast featuring Gabriyel Thomas as Grizabella, Todd McKenney as Bustopher Jones and Asparagus, Mark Vincent as Old Deuteronomy, Lucy Maunder as Jellylorum, Des Flanagan as Rum Tum Tugger, Jarrod Draper as Munkustrap and Leigh Archer as Jennyanydots. CATS is on at Her Majesty’s Theatre until October 12.
