From the Adelaide Hills’ Winter Reds festival to Willunga’s Almond Blossom Festival, there is plenty of fun to be had for the whole family across SA this weekend.
Pile-up
July 28 to September 4
Adelaide Central School of Art is exhibiting new work and career highlights from 2026 SALA feature artist Troy-Anthony Baylis. Troy is a descendant of the Jawoyn people from the Northern Territory and he uses Pile-up to reinvent the traditional ways of presenting Aboriginality. Opening next Tuesday, the exhibition comprises a series of powerful new works complemented by carefully selected highlights from the artist’s 30 year career. Troy will also be giving a free artist talk on Saturday, August 29 coinciding with the school’s open day.
Winter Reds Festival
July 24-26
Warm up as the Adelaide Hills’ annual red wine festival returns this month. Across three days 34 cellar doors host more than 40 events highlighting the region and its iconic wines. Expect masterclasses, guided tastings, food experiences, after-dark experiences and live music. Festival highlights include two events hosted by Matt Preston; conversation and tastings with eight different owner-winemakers at Vinteloper and a long lunch at Golding Wines.
Willunga Almond Blossom Festival
July 25-26
Join in on a weekend of celebration as Willunga’s famous almond blossom trees once again bloom. Expect cooking demonstrations, market stalls, live entertainment, rides, sideshows and plenty of other fun for the whole family. The beloved community event also features a dazzling fireworks show. Taking place at the Willunga Recreation Park, tickets are available in advance or at the gate and family passes are also available.

Coonawarra Wine Dinner
July 23
Spend the evening with four of the Coonawarra wine region’s founding families in a degustation dinner honouring the Coonawarra Cabernet and standout varietals at the National Wine Centre. Wines from Wynns of Coonawarra, Majella Wines, Balnaves of Coonawarra and Redman Wines are expertly paired by the National Wine Centre’s sommelier team with an indulgent dinner by executive chef Sato Kikuchi. Tickets are $175 and includes a four-course degustation dinner and nine paired wines.

From Kaurna and Narungga theatre-maker Jacob Boehme comes a tale honouring the enduring strength of his female ancestors, the legacy of cameleers and the spirit of resistance etched into Adelaide’s history. Follow the unlikely alliance between an Afghan cameleer and mosque caretaker, and a young Aboriginal woman as war, racism and bureaucracy forges their bond into an act of survival. State Theatre Company South Australia’s latest production stars Alexis West and Ali Ammouchi, features live music from Sonya Rankine and Feroz Ansari, and is showing at the Space Theatre.

Wine n’ Dine
