SALA Festival

South Australia’s largest open access visual arts festival returns for its 29th year showcasing talent from across the state in a celebration of creativity, community and connection. The extensive program comprises more than 11,000 artists presenting more than 700 exhibitions and events across South Australia. Explore the stories, perspectives and characters of communities with displays in galleries, cafes, wineries, libraries, schools, community halls and unexpected places.
Fleurieu Food Festival
August 1-31
Discover the best of the Fleurieu Peninsula in this month-long celebration of food, wine and place. The iconic region and its renowned produce is showcased with an extensive program packed with more than 120 events from more than 60 venues and producers. Expect dining experiences, tastings, workshops and farm events spanning all the way from the fringe of the Adelaide Hills to Victor Harbor. OysterPalooza
July 31 to August 2
Never Never Distilling’s crowd favourite oyster weekend extravaganza returns to the McLaren Vale cellar door in celebration of World Oyster Day on August 5. Back for its fifth year, expect quality South Australian oysters, drink specials featuring Never Never Distilling’s oyster shell gin, and tastings served straight from the shell. The celebrations kick off on Friday night with the opening Boom Shuck-Alaka! event and continue with Day Time Deck Sessions across Saturday and Sunday.
RESONANCE

SALA Festival is in full swing at Mezzanine 55 where two local artists are exhibiting their work. Lisa Magnera explores “an evolving journey shaped by nature, memory and a growing appreciation for stillness” with her richly layered abstract paintings. Meanwhile, Darryl Downie explores “the delicate interplay between light, atmosphere and human presence within our environment” impressionistic paintings.

Anastasia the Musical
August 2-30
Be transported from the twilight years of the Imperial rule to the magic of 1920s Paris when Anastasia the Musical hits the stage at the Festival Theatre this weekend. Follow Anya as she discovers the mystery of her past, enlisting a dashing conman to help her evade the army officer determined to silence her. From a Tony award-winning team, Anastasia is a heart-warming story of love, home and family wrapped in an epic adventure.
Grunthal Brew Cheese-Making Class

Learn from one of the state’s most celebrated cheesemakers Sheree Sullivan from Udder Delights in a hands-on workshop at Grunthal Brew. Make your own feta from scratch to take home and discover how this base recipe can be adapted to create a variety of cheeses. Along with a choice of one of Grunthal Brew’s on tap varieties or a Hesketh wine, understand the science behind cheesemaking in a digestible way with Sheree’s ‘cheesy fables’ – fairytales with a cheesy twist.
Rose Pruning Demonstrations

Pruning is essential to get the best out of your roses, but making the cut too early can be fatal. This winter the Rose Society of South Australia is holding free rose pruning demonstrations with all of the top tips and tricks, so it doesn’t have to be difficult. Across three different dates, workshops will be held at Knight’s Roses in Gawler and at the International Rose Garden in the Adelaide Botanic Garden.
