This weekend, head to the Art Gallery of South Australia for the final weekend of Dangerously Modern, or to BMG Art for a joint exhibition.
Make your way to the Art Gallery of South Australia for the final weekend of Dangerously Modern: Australian Women Artists in Europe 1890-1940. This is the first major exhibition to focus on the vital role of Australian women in the development of international modernism and explores the art and lives of fifty trailblazing artists. Dangerously Modern features more than 200 works of art, ranging from public statements to private portrait miniatures in styles such as realism, impressionism, post-impressionism, cubism and abstraction. This exhibition is open daily from 10am to 5pm until September 7.
Head to BMG Art on Halifax Street this weekend for a joint exhibition featuring works by Datsun Tran and Sharifah Sorayya. Datsun’s installation, titled Master of Transformation, features work on paper depicting the Monkey King from Chinese mythology and copper sculptures of peaches. Sharifah’s part of the exhibition, Permission to Pass, includes mixed-media “nonrepresentational abstraction” paintings. This exhibition is showing until Saturday, September 27.
A Brush With Art will transform the Flinders and Southern Flinders Ranges into a vibrant art trail from September 6 to October 12 as it returns for its 21st year. This annual event showcases the natural beauty of the Australian outback, with more than 40 exhibitions, workshops and experiences across the region. A highlight will be the new central “Art Beat” hub in Jamestown, which will serve as an information and visitor centre for the event. A Brush With Art supports regional, rural and remote artists by giving them a platform to display their work and connect with a broader community.
