Touching the Divine at AGSA

As the birthplace of many of the world’s major religions, including Buddhism and Hinduism, Asia’s impact on spirituality has stretched well beyond the continent’s borders. This impact will be highlighted in Touching the Divine: Love and devotion in Asian art, which will be on display in galleries 19-21 of the Art Gallery of South Australia’s Lower Melrose Wing until November 23. This exhibition explores the depiction of love and devotion in sacred Asian art. You can expect to see artworks demonstrating the importance of light to Islamic mysticism, the confluence of religions in the Mughal Empire, depictions of the Hindu deity Krishna, and the worship of goddesses in Hinduism.

Winter Flame 2025

Join the Barossa & District Pipe Band this weekend for Winter Flame 2025. Held in mid-June to coincide with the winter solstice, this free community event takes place in Tanunda from 6pm on Saturday, June 21. Making its way from Jane Place, a blazing torchlit parade will feature the pipe band, as well as Highland dancers and Highland strong men and women. This night culminates with a stirring Scottish bagpipe and dance performance at Murray Street/Basedow Road. The Barossa District & Pipe Band was established to share with beauty of Scottish bagpipe music with the communities of this iconic wine region.
