Families looking to experience the fun and variety of the Fringe in one convenient location will enjoy the all-ages spectacular, Circus the Show. ★★★★

Presented by Showmen Productions (whose family shows KABOOM! and The Greatest Magic Show are also playing in Gluttony); the show is hosted by the boastful and occasionally frazzled Ringmaster – played with gusto by Magnus Danger Magnus – and features a stunning line up of performers who are sure to entertain.
From traditional circus acts such as acrobatics and juggling to mind boggling displays of magic and a surprisingly nerve-wracking – but ultimately breathtaking – display of aerial artistry, each cast member delivers a high energy performance that showcases their incredible talent and strength.
There are plenty of hilarious moments throughout the one-hour performance thanks to the cheeky antics of an individual referred to by the ringmaster as ‘Clown’. With his squeaky voice and an infectious enthusiasm that is hard to ignore, Clown runs between the stage and the audience interacting with children and adults alike and occasionally leaving chaos in his wake before delivering a thoroughly entertaining performance that ends the show with a bang.
If Circus The Show has one downfall, it was the incredibly loud volume of each acts accompanying music which, even within the spacious surrounds of The Moa (one of Gluttony’s larger venues) bordered on uncomfortable. Seated mid-way between the stage and the back of the tent, there were several moments throughout the March 8 performance where I noticed children putting their hands over their ears to cope with the noise. Those with sound sensitivities will do well to pack ear protection.
Circus the Show is playing at The Moa in Gluttony until 22 March
