Growing up, Kavisha’s family would gather around the television to watch their favourite show, McLeod’s Daughters, every week. So, after six years together, John planned a surprise proposal surrounded by family at Kingsford the Barossa – the iconic site of the fictional Drovers Run, where the show was set.
The couple tied the knot at Mount Lofty House in a traditional Hindu ceremony with small nods to John’s German heritage.
“It felt so beautiful having family from overseas and interstate with us to celebrate this new chapter,” Kavisha says. “I wish you could hear and experience the sounds, smells, and feelings of the day—pictures only tell part of the story. The rumble of John’s dad’s Corvette, alongside John and his friends in theirs; the vibrant drumming of Indian dhols; and the cheers as John brought home his Bharat to officially commence the wedding.
“The elegant sound of the string quartet accompanied my family and me as we walked down the aisle. The scent of German gingerbread candles – our signature home fragrance – wafted through the entire venue, blending with the fresh jasmine from the mandap florals. During the sacred prayers and vows, the rich aroma of ghee burning in the havan added a deeply spiritual warmth to the moment.
As the celebration flowed into the reception, the atmosphere transformed – the vibrant music filled the air as the wedding became an elegant party, with the sparkle, scent, and feeling of champagne flowing freely. The feeling and atmosphere of that day are something we will carry in our minds forever.”
