Mackenzie proposed to his high school sweetheart Madeleine at The Edge, an observation deck 100 floors above New York City.
They were on a group trip, their friends on standby with Champagne to celebrate – and celebrate they did. After almost eight years together, the couple said “I do” at Simon Hackett Winery with their dog Wilbur as the ring bearer. “One of my favourite parts of the day was hearing the incredible speeches from our families,” Madeleine says. “We went from crying one minute to laughing the next. Those words will never be forgotten.”

What was the inspiration behind your styling?
The inspiration for our wedding was timeless, elegant and romantic with a strong focus on meaningful details (many of which I handcrafted myself). The overall aesthetic contained soft touches of green and ivory through the florals, stationery and decorations, which complemented the vintage silverware that I had collected over years. Statement fabric bows and linen signage added a whimsical feel to the day.
What was your favourite part of the day?
One of my favourite parts of the day was hearing the incredible speeches from our families. We went from crying one minute to laughing the next and these words will never be forgotten.
Tips for others planning their big day?
I would recommend choosing vendors who align with your values and suit the overall vibe of your wedding. Spend time looking for inspiration on social media and reading reviews carefully. Our photographer, Mish, videographer, Dan, and content creator, Ella, made us feel so comfortable throughout the day. You spend so much time with your vendors taking photos and capturing videos, and we genuinely felt like we were spending the day with three of our closest friends.
Don’t waste time of money on details that you probably won’t remember from other people’s weddings. Things like the colour of the napkins or the exact table decorations. Focus your energy and budget on the parts of the day that will genuinely matter to you and your loved ones, such as the atmosphere, the people, and the memories you create together.
