Adelaide Oval Roof Climb
The 90-minute tour sees you walking over the roofs of Adelaide Oval, while learning its history. It’s not only a fabulous way to see the historic oval in all its glory, but it’s a fabulous way to appreciate our beautifully designed city. A perfect outing for the sports lover to spend a quarter of an AFL game or watch some cricket at the purpose-built deck with a bird’s eye view of the oval below. The ultimate thrill is the traditional lean-out where climbers place their feet on the edge of the platform and lean back over the oval while held in place with a harness.
The Adelaide Showground Farmers Market
Notching up 18 years, this weekly market is a genuine farmers’ market — customers can buy produce direct from the person who grew it, reared it, caught it, harvested it, made it or produced it here in SA. It’s a gorgeous way to spend a Sunday morning, meandering your way through the stalls. Enjoy a relaxed brunch and buy fresh local food in the fresh air. MasterChef judge Poh Ling Yeow and her delicious baked goods might be the market’s most famous stallholder, but there’s a huge variety of choices from the best and freshest fruit and vegetables to baked goods, bottled cordials and smallgoods. Each month there’s also a program of activities designed for children.
Adelaide Zoo
Home to more than 2500 animals and 250 species of exotic and native mammals, birds, reptiles and fish over eight hectares right in the heart of the city. Why not try one of the zoo’s unique opportunities to get even closer to the wildlife. Connect with a giant giraffe as you feed them a carrot or watch on as pygmy hippo Obi munches through treats.
The Piccadilly
There’s something quite nostalgic about watching a movie at Wallis Piccadilly. It’s like being swept back in time to the Hollywood’s golden age — when stars such as Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall reigned supreme — from the patterned daybeds that almost melt into the red and gold floral carpet to the sweeping staircase which leads you to the magic of the silver screen. The 2023 renovation means you can now grab a glass of wine, cocktail or enjoy a range of gourmet food — pizzas, arancini or even a seafood platter. And you can still get your traditional cinema faves – choc tops or buttery popcorn — to accompany the latest blockbuster.
