Inside SALIFE June 2026

May 29, 2026, updated May 29, 2026

Inside SALIFE’s June issue, Adelaide-born actor Teresa Palmer shares the realities of balancing Hollywood with motherhood – and how she really feels about turning 40. Plus, chef Kane Pollard’s top recipes for getting kids in the kitchen, and more.

When Teresa Palmer was on the cusp of her big acting break, she did something few young women in Hollywood would have dared: she told executives that having children was her top priority.

Brave? Maybe. Authentic? Absolutely.

I can’t help but admire the Adelaide-born actor and the way she manages to juggle not only five children, but also time on film sets, media appearances and passion projects that fill her creative cup. Meanwhile, most nights I’m scrambling to get dinner on the table after a day’s work and three school and pre-school pick-ups.

But here’s the thing – even Teresa, with the extra help she may have, admits to challenging days. The days where you’ve just got to escape the house to burn kids’ energy; the days where ordering take-out is the key to sanity; the days where your brain is reeling from trying to cater to multiple demands at once. When it comes to raising a family, we’re all working it out as we go.

I was thrilled to chat with Teresa for the cover story of this month’s Kids and Families issue of SALIFE, and my first as acting editor. She may be a star of the small and big screen, but she remains entirely grounded – I’m certain her being an “Adelaide Hills girl” has something to do with that. Discover how she’s found the elusive work-life balance – and how she really feels about turning 40 – in the June issue.

Of course, families come in all shapes and sizes, and we celebrate a bunch this month.

Senior journalist Ben Kelly visits three of the many generational families working in South Australia’s wine industry, who show how passion and perseverance help to build lasting legacies. The next glass you raise may have a little more weight to it, knowing the history and the people behind the pour. Read about Angove, Corryton Burge and Curtis Family Vineyards from page 102.

A chilly breeze couldn’t stop the frivolities of a family-and-friends picnic held on the grounds of Coriole in McLaren Vale, where SALIFE editor Zoe Rice chatted with Duncan and Lara Lloyd while children frolicked and played. With a table piled high of help-yourself goodies, and sausage rolls for kids to munch on, it’s an example of how the best memories aren’t about fancy fare, but time spent together.

Speaking of goodies, chef Kane Pollard has shared an absolute ripper of a recipe collection this month, aimed at getting kids in the kitchen. Using produce he and his daughters collected from the Adelaide Farmers’ Market, and some clever short-cuts, he shows how family meals can be equal parts fun and delicious.

We hope you love this issue of SALIFE and find as much inspiration from the stories as I did. Zoe will be back next month to deliver your July issue.
