One station lost tens of thousands of listeners after a delayed start for two new star breakfast hosts. New radio stats show 5AA also suffering a pre-footy season loss.

KIIS Adelaide lost 38,000 listeners in the breakfast timeslot in the first radio listener survey of the year – a 2.8 per cent drop on last year’s numbers.
The station – formerly Mix 102.3 – is without its star recruit breakfast hosts, whom it hired in late 2025.
Ben and Liam – Adelaide boys who got their start at community radio station Fresh 92.7 – were meant to be hosting the rebranded station’s breakfast show this year, but a non-compete clause enforced by former employer Nova means they’re off air until April Fool’s Day on the first.
The numbers show KIIS came in at sixth out of the seven Adelaide stations, holding eight per cent of listener share over the tracked period of January 18 to February 28.
Meanwhile, at the other end of the scale, perennial breakfast winner Triple M took the top spot yet again.
It means Roo, Dits and Loz have won 24 out of the past 25 surveys. They now boast an impressive 14.4 per cent of market share, though that is down 0.7 percentage points on the prior survey.
Triple M as a whole is Adelaide’s number one radio station with 12.5 per cent market share and a 307,000-strong listener base.
The lead generated by Roo, Dits and Loz continues into the Mornings slot, where the station continues to dominate with a 15.4 per cent share, and into the Afternoons (14.1 per cent share).
Drive was won by Nova 91.9, where Fitzy, Wippa and Kate just nudged out Triple M’s The Rush Hour with JB & Billy.
SAFM gained a large number of listener share in the Breakfast slot, Bel, Bernie & Emma G proving popular for the SCA-owned radio station. While in fifth position for the timeslot, their share of listeners rose by 1.7 points to 8.9 per cent.
The station’s overall base rose by 0.4 per cent to 9.1 per cent, and now claims 319,000 total listeners.
As for the other Breakfast shows, FiveAA’s David Penberthy and Will Goodings landed the number two position with an 11.7 per cent share, while ABC Adelaide’s Sonya and Jules were hot on their heels with 11.3 per cent of listeners.
Leith Forrest at 5AA remains, by far, the king of Evenings. His is the only show with a share of listeners in the double digits – 15.1 per cent – though this was 1.3 points down on the past survey.
The ABC lost some of its evenings share with host Spence Denny, dropping almost one per cent to 6.8 from 7.6 per cent in December.
