Radio Ratings: It’s a long way to the top for Ben and Liam

The trio at the top of Adelaide’s radio pile have locked in another breakfast win – despite losing ground in the final radio ratings survey of the year.

Triple M maintains the two big crowns in Adelaide’s end-of-year radio ratings, landing the number one overall station while its breakfast show extended its streak of wins.

In the final survey for 2025, covering the period between October 5 and December 13, Triple M’s Roo, Ditts and Loz was the most-popular Adelaide breakfast radio show.

The trio has now won 23 out of the past 24 surveys, and would have cleaned up for the year had Nova not won survey number 3 in 2025.

And it was achieved despite the show losing 1.1 per cent share of listenership in the period – down from 16.2 per cent to 15.1 per cent.

Meanwhile, the show’s closest breakfast competitor – FIVEAA’s David Penberthy and Will Goodings – gained 1.2 per cent, landing them squarely in second position.

ABC Adelaide’s Sonya and Jules leapfrogged Nova 91.9 to rise into third position with a 1 per cent gain in market share to 11.3 per cent. Nova’s Jodie & Haysey actually fell two positions this survey after losing 0.8 per cent share at 9.8 per cent.

But it’s Triple M that will be popping the bubbly this morning, claiming multiple wins across the day’s programming.

In addition to being Adelaide’s number one station at the end of 2025, the lead in breakfast is extended into the morning, afternoon and drive slots.

They only lose the lead in the evenings, when Matthew Pantelis takes the mic at FIVEAA.

Stay informed, daily

He has a dominating 16.4 per cent market share in that time slot, though this was down more than three per cent from the previous survey, with gainers including Cruise, Mix 102.3, Triple M, Nova 91.9 and Triple J.

The results will be of little comfort to bosses at Mix 102.3, which yesterday rebranded to KIIS 102.3 in line with the national name.

The station has been grappling with contract chaos for its newly signed breakfast stars: Adelaide golden boys Ben and Liam, who are replacing Max Burford and Hayley Pearson.

That old duo was abruptly axed in late October 2025, before the station’s rebrand and the pivot to Ben and Liam.

The new pair, who’ve done stints at Triple J and Nova, won’t be able to start at KIIS until April, after Nova enforced a non-compete clause in their contract, which prevents them from going on air.

In their slot is Bec Morse for the time being – a very capable pair of hands that Mix (now KIIS) seems to wheel out whenever things get dicey. She jumped back onto the Mix/KIIS mic for a short stint in October when Hayley Pearson took a short break.

KIIS launched things with a bang yesterday, with Premier Peter Malinauskas the inaugural host of the rebranded station’s first show.
