Zoe Rice has today started as the new editor of SALIFE, leveraging more than a decade of experience at South Australia’s biggest-selling magazine.
Rice takes over from Liz Walsh, who will soon begin a media management role with the Adelaide Crows.
Walsh, an award-winning journalist with than 20 years of experience in the media, took on the role of editor for SALIFE in October 2022.
“I have been so lucky to have worked alongside our hardworking team to uncover the stories that showcase the absolute best of our diverse state, not just for readers here in South Australia, but for readers far beyond,” said Walsh.
“Zoe has been a part of the SALIFE team for nearly 12 years, with almost three years as deputy, and has been pivotal to the magazine’s success. I can’t wait to see where she takes the publication under her stewardship.”
Rice started writing for SALIFE in 2013, and in 2022, she was elevated to deputy editor.
Rice said she is excited to step into the editor’s chair.
“I’ve been passionate about this magazine for so long and am looking forward to continuing its vision, which has always been to tell the stories of this state and its wonderful people,” said Rice.
Solstice Media founder and managing director, Paul Hamra, said that Rice will be fantastic in the new role.
“The SALIFE editorial team is the best and it’s encouraging – no, inspiring – that the next generation editor has worked in this team and risen to this position,” said Hamra.

Credit Union SA has announced the appointment of Mike Gulliver as technology transformation program manager.
In his new role, Gulliver will lead Credit Union SA’s technology transformation initiatives.
This includes enhancing operational efficiency, implementing technology transformation strategies, engaging with stakeholders to ensure buy-in and successful program outcomes and ensuring the seamless integration of new technologies within the organisation.
Credit Union SA said Gulliver has more than 20 years of experience in transformation, program delivery and technology leadership.
He has worked in a range of sectors, including retail banking, home lending, wealth management, superannuation, insurance and disability services.
For the past three years, he has been director of technology and information security at Super SA, where he led its technology, data and information security risk management functions.
He has also previously held senior roles at Bendigo Bank, Adelaide Bank and Westpac.

Adelaide media personality Elizabeth Rocca has joined Adelaide-based multinational transport firm Kelsian Group Limited as an executive assistant.
Rocca is currently an MC, event host and content creator for Adelaide Gal and a radio host and producer for Radio Italiana 531.
She was previously an ambassador for the NeuroSurgical Research Foundation and held executive assistant roles at Cinematic Events and Mohyla Architecture.
She also spent 14-and-a-half years at the Courts Administration Authority as a judicial support officer and deputy registrar, which included a year as an executive assistant.
“I am thrilled to be part of such a dynamic team dedicated to delivering exceptional transportation and tourism solutions while enhancing sustainability,” said Rocca.

South Australian law firm DBH Lawyers has announced the addition of Catherine Livesey as a partner, joining its personal injury team.
DBH Lawyers said this means female partners now outnumber men in its leadership team.
Livesey has more than a decade of experience in medical negligence, public liability and birth injury claims.
Livesey had been a senior associate at MinterEllison for the past four years, and before this, she held roles at DW Fox Tucker Lawyers, Moray and Agnew, Hicksons Lawyers and Lawson Smith Lawyers, as well as a year as a judge’s associate in the Supreme Court of South Australia.
The announcement comes after the recent appointment of Jane Fox as a partner and head of family law at the firm.
Fox joined from Clelands Lawyers, where she spent nearly two years as special counsel.
She has also held roles at the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, BBS Lawyers, David Burrell & Co. Divorce Lawyers, Robinson & Mason, Howe Martin & Associates and Wallmans Lawyers.

Dale Thomson has retired as a senior account manager at Lane Communications after 13 years in the role.
Thomson had his last day on July 24 and said he looks forward to what the next chapter in his life holds.
“This hasn’t been an easy decision, but after 13 wonderful years, it feels like the right time,” said Thomson.
“I’ve been incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work with such dedicated and supportive clients – it’s truly been a privilege.”
