The Triple M breakfast show starring Mark Ricciuto, Laura O’Callaghan and Chris Dittmar was the top performer in its time slot in every radio ratings survey this year, and now for 15 surveys in a row.

The trio rounded out the year with a 1.3 per cent rise in total listener share to 16.1 per cent – a whole three points above their closest rivals: FIVEaa’s David Penberthy and Will Goodings.

The Roo, Ditts and Loz-helmed program has now been the number one FM breakfast show in Adelaide for 18 surveys in a row.

“An absolute boomer early Christmas result for Triple M’s Roo, Ditts and Loz, making it 18 wins in a row to dominate at Breakfast time, and powering Triple M back to the Number One overall station in Adelaide again,” SCA chief content officer Dave Cameron said.

“Adelaide listeners have proven again their wild passion for Triple M remains.”

It’s a triumphant end to the year not just for the trio but for the station too with Triple M bouncing back up to the top spot and pushing Mix 102.3 into second place.

The two stations have been grappling for the overall number-one placement all year, and in the latest survey – which tracked listenership between 22 September to 30 November – Triple M’s listenership rose by 1.1 per cent, while Mix’s fell by the same amount.

Nova 91.9 came in third spot overall and gained 0.6 per cent, while FIVEaa was middle of the pack at 9.2 per cent.

Cruise was in fifth position, followed by SAFM and ABC Adelaide at the bottom.

The latter station’s breakfast show, helmed by Sonya Feldhoff and Jules Schiller, slid once again, with total listenership falling by 0.8 per cent to 10.1 per cent, putting the duo in fifth position.

The only other local station to see declines in listenership over the breakfast slot was SAFM. At the very tail end of the ratings period, the show’s hosts both announced they would not be returning next year, with Rebecca Morse saying her contract had not been renewed and Mark Soderstrom announcing he was stepping away from radio.

Nova 91.9’s breakfast show hosted by Jodie Oddy and Andrew Hayes came in third place, while Mix 102.3 – hosted by Ali Clarke and Max Burford – was fourth with 10.7 per cent of listenership.

In November, Clarke announced she was stepping down as the breakfast host after three years in the role, saying on air that 2024 had reminded her how important it was to “follow your heart” and “act with integrity”.

In July, Clarke revealed on-air that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and has since undergone two mastectomies.

Cruise and SAFM took out the bottom two spots on the breakfast ladder.

The eighth and last survey of the year also marks the final ratings period for longstanding ABC Radio Adelaide Mornings host David Bevan.

Bevan’s final show will be tomorrow morning, closing off a decades-long journalism career. He will be replaced by the ABC’s SA state political reporter Rory McClaren in 2025.

The outgoing host announced his retirement outside of the ratings period, but during the surveyed days his morning show lost 0.1 per cent of listenership.

The top morning show (9am to 12pm on weekdays) was Triple M’s. This lead continued into the afternoon slot (midday to 4pm), but Nova 91.9 took the crown in the drive slot.

Once again, Leith Forrest at FIVEaa maintains his stranglehold of the evening slot, while on weekends Mix 102.3 narrowly took out the number one position and was just a hair ahead of Triple M and Nova 91.9.

By demographics, Nova 91.9 dominates with the 18 to 39 year olds, while those aged 40 to 54 prefer Triple M. Those aged 55 to 64 tuned into Mix 102.3 mostly in the survey period, while ABC maintains its lead in the 65-plus demographic by just 0.1 per cent above FIVEaa.
