New cybersecurity program for SA parliamentarians
The National Industry Innovation Network (NIIN) has launched a new cybersecurity program aimed at South Australia’s parliamentarians.
Securing Our Future: Cyber Essentials for Parliamentarians in South Australia is designed to help participants better understand cyber risks, strengthen cyber hygiene and adopt safer everyday security practices to support parliamentary offices.
The program is being delivered in partnership with Cisco, Flinders University, Adelaide University and ArchiTech, bringing together cybersecurity experts, industry leaders and academic partners to examine the evolving cybersecurity threat.
“Cyber security is increasingly important across every part of society and government and initiatives such as Cyber Essentials provide practical tools to help strengthen cyber awareness and resilience,” Artificial Intelligence Minister Chris Picton said.
Mental health crisis centre opens in Adelaide’s north
A $22 million Crisis Stabilisation Centre has officially opened, providing Northern suburbs residents access to additional mental health support services.

The 16-bed crisis support centre has opened next to the Lyell McEwin Hospital and will start providing services from this week as part of a staged opening.
It follows a 12 per cent increase in mental health presentations to emergency departments in the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network facilities, with the new centre allowing patients to stay up to three nights.
“This new service will provide more options for people to get the help they need closer to home, while ensuring emergency departments can focus on those requiring acute medical care,” Health Minister Blair Boyer said.
Events space unveiled for new Crystalbrook hotel
Crystalbrook Collection Hotels and Resorts has unveiled its events space ahead of the opening of its first Adelaide CBD-based hotel Crystalbrook Sam in December.
Crystalbrook Sam will be a 196-room luxury hotel on Halifax Street with dining experiences and a rooftop bar.
The three new event spaces will cater for corporate meetings, conferences, product launches, and executive retreats, with a capacity for more than 100 guests.
“Adelaide continues to grow as a destination for business events, and we wanted to create a venue that reflects the city’s strengths, including exceptional food and wine, and genuine hospitality,” Crystalbrook Sam general manager Kelvin Dodt said.
SA packaging company opens Indian facility

SA packaging company Detmold Group plans to expand its presence in India with the construction of a manufacturing and warehousing facility in Chatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad), Maharashtra.
The new facility would span more than 19,000 square metres of floor space, creating immediate additional capacity and capability for future expansion.
Key features of the new facility include a focus on insulation performance, passive and active ventilation, and electronic monitoring and management systems.
“Our new Indian factory will continue to support existing customers whilst enabling growth in key markets including Europe, the Middle East, the Americas and locally in India,” Detmold Group CEO Sascha Detmold Cox said.
Multimillion-dollar funding for water saving initiative
South Australian councils will share more than $32 million of Australian Government funding to boost water savings in the Murray-Darling Basin.
Salisbury, Charles Sturt, Playford, Marion and Onkaparinga, Burnside, Norwood, Payneham and St Peters, and Walkerville councils have received funding under the South Australian Alternative Water Supply Efficiency Measures (AWSEM) Program.
The AWSEM Program supports local governments to build infrastructure that allow councils to use alternative water sources including treated wastewater to reduce the amount of water they draw from the River Murray.
It is expected to generate up to 1,890 megalitres of water savings across the six projects.
“In a climate where every drop is precious, alternative water sources are a crucial part of diversifying and strengthening Australia’s water security,” Federal Environment and Water Minister Murray Watt said.
Industrial investment market hits milestone
Adelaide’s industrial investment market has started 2026 strongly as investors continue to target the sector.
According to data from Knight Frank, a total of 24 transactions amounting to $404 million has been recorded in the first half of the year.
“These transactions demonstrate the breadth of capital targeting Adelaide’s industrial market, from private investors through to professional fund managers seeking secure income and long-term growth opportunities,” Knight Frank partner Max Frohlich said.
