Debuting in The Vault at Fool’s Paradise, inside a tent that looks like an enormous golf ball, Selene Wilde Productions presents the Feathers & Jazz Soirée. Hosted by the fabulous Nona Mona, it’s a kaleidoscope of tits, tassels and titillation.

When a show kicks off with five bedazzled showgirls shaking their tail feathers, you know you’re in for something of an entertaining evening. Between a string of seductive performances and Mona’s cheeky on-stage commentary, this show provides an inclusive and approachable introduction to burlesque, particularly for those new to the art. Hot tip, though: sit front and centre for the best views. Although the dome-shaped room works well for creating a wonderful atmosphere and acoustics, the side stage views are blocked by the band.

And speaking of the band, kudos to the Artisan Jazz Project for producing an evening of immersive, seamless sound. The band genuinely looked like they were having fun and their jazzy take on an Eminem classic was inspired. That said, given the bold, sultry nature of burlesque, it sometimes felt like the vocals held back; moments could have absolutely taken off but stayed in the safe zone instead. The crowd was left yearning for a bit more fire, a bit more risk; push the boundaries, make the place shake.

Boobies, titties, ta-tas. It’s impossible to frown when presented with a cracking pair, and luckily this soirée delivers them in abundance; in fact, the final act left the audience seeing spirals.

Feathers & Jazz Soiree is playing at the Vault at Fool’s Paradise from February 18 – 22
