Christmas at the Bay Expect colour, music and magic this weekend as Christmas at the Bay brings the festive spirit to Glenelg on Saturday, December 8. Highlights of the day include Christmas crafts, market stalls, face painting, games and photo opportunities with Santa, with community carols to end the evening on a high note. Christmas at the Bay takes place at Jimmy Melrose Park on Glenelg’s foreshore, with activations also across Mosely Square and the Bay Discovery Centre, and entry is free.
The Glass Menagerie Amanda Wingfield is a struggling single mum raising her two children, Tom and Laura, in their cramped apartment in 1930s St Louis. Things just aren’t going as planned – Amanda isn’t having any luck finding a husband for her shy daughter, while her son is keen to escape the burden of home life. This semi-autobiographical play was written by acclaimed 20th-century American playwright Tennessee Williams. The Glass Menagerie is directed by Shannon Rush and stars Kathryn Adams as Amanda alongside Laurence Boxhall, Jono Darby and Ksenja Logos. This State Theatre Company South Australia production is on at Norwood’s Odeon Theatre until December 7.
Victor Harbor half marathonRace to the finish line for the Victor Harbor Half Marathon on December 7. The 21.1-kilometre route is one of the flattest in Australia and includes jaw-dropping views of Encounter Bay, The Bluff and Granite Island. This event is open to participants of all abilities, with 10-kilometre and five-kilometre options, as well as a kids’ dash. Race entry also includes aid stations, race day medical support, electronic timing, race photography, post-race beverages and a post-race massage. The Victor Harbor Half Marathon is part of the Great Southern Runs series.
Gathered markets in the mallThis Christmas edition of Gathered Market in the Mall is the perfect opportunity to get the Christmas shopping done on December 6 and 7. Expect a wide range of products from South Australian producers including clothing, homewares, art, jewellery, ceramics, skincare and more across two massive days. There will also be the perfect chance to refuel with food and drinks on offer from local producers in Gawler Place. The Christmas edition of Gathered Markets in the Mall will take up residence in Rundle Mall from 9am until 5pm on Saturday and Sunday.
