For Rebecca Morse (Bec) and Marie Kargiotis, also known as The Style Hosts, good design is about more than aesthetics. It’s about feeling. And in this light-filled Adelaide new build, that feeling was clear from the start: calming, warm, and timeless — with a subtle nod to modern Mediterranean living.
Longtime collaborators Bec, an Adelaide personality, and Marie, an interior designer — reunited to turn their shared passion for design and build into a stylish duplex project to showcase thoughtful, feel-good living.
From soft white tones and organic curves to a mix of textures and golden accents, the home feels refined yet effortless. But it’s the fireplace that quietly pulls everything together.
“Our vision for this project was to create a modern Mediterranean-inspired space, with a fresh, airy feel,” says Marie. “We focused on soft white tones, organic curves, light timbers, and a carefully curated mix of gold and bronze finishes to bring warmth and elegance.”
The fireplace wasn’t an afterthought — it was an anchor. From the beginning, Bec and Marie knew they needed a focal point that could ground the open-plan living space and enhance the home’s serene aesthetic.
After visiting Stoke Fireplace Studio Adelaide, the pair selected the Escea DS1150 Gas Fireplace — a sleek, frameless design with a minimalist profile and customisable features.
“We chose the Escea DS1150 because it was the perfect fit for the home—both in size and design,” says Bec. “It’s large enough to create a statement, yet the slim, fine frame gives it a delicate, refined presence.”
To complement the natural materials woven throughout the home, they selected a traditional log fuelbed, which added visual warmth and tied into the palette.
“The wood logs added a beautiful natural element that worked seamlessly with our overall palette,” adds Marie. “And we loved the finish — it felt considered, warm, and just right for the space.”
Installed by Stoke Adelaide’s expert team, the fireplace now sits as a central feature within the lounge, kitchen, and dining area — not just heating the space, but shaping its entire mood.
“The fireplace became a key feature in the open-plan area,” says Bec. “It complements the Mediterranean tones throughout the home and adds a sense of comfort and warmth, especially during the cooler months.”
Even when it’s not in use, the fireplace continues to play a visual role. “It really anchors the space and brings a cosy, lived-in feel when it’s on,” says Marie. “And even when it’s not, it still looks beautiful.”
Working with the team at Stoke Adelaide made the process feel as smooth and intentional as the design itself.
“Adam in particular was incredibly knowledgeable, relaxed and down-to-earth,” says Marie. “He made the entire installation process smooth and enjoyable.”
From early design conversations through to installation, Bec and Marie found themselves supported by a team that truly understood their vision.
“They just got it,” says Bec.
