Where Alisa & Lysandra Found Their Fire

Designing a home is one thing. Designing two dream homes, side by side, each a reflection of a sister’s distinct personality, is something truly special.

For The Block alumni and celebrated design duo Alisa and Lysandra Fraser, building their own family homes in Adelaide’s Somerton Park was a chance to bring their personal visions to life — together, yet entirely their own.

While their styles diverged, one thing united their journey: the search for the perfect fireplace.

A Boutique Experience at Stoke

With a clear sense of what they wanted but plenty of questions, the sisters visited Stoke Fireplace Studio Adelaide, a design-focused showroom known for its gallery-style approach and curated selection of world-class fireplace brands.

Stoke’s Flinders Park showroom is a design-led space where fire meets form.

“The Stoke team were fantastic,” says Alisa. “They didn’t just show us products — they really understood the look we were going for, talked us through the features, and helped make it all happen, even under a tight deadline.”

For Adam & Zoe Roe, owners of Stoke Adelaide, it wasn’t just about selling a fireplace — it was about helping Alisa and Lysandra craft the heart of their homes. “We love working closely with clients to ensure the fireplace fits not just the space, but the whole atmosphere they want to create,” Adam shares.

Alisa’s Minimalist Sanctuary

In Alisa’s home, calm and minimalism reign. The Escea DS1150 Gas Fireplace, with its frameless design, blends seamlessly into a rendered feature wall, creating a focal point that’s subtle yet striking.

“It’s the perfect balance — clean, modern, but still warm and inviting,” says Alisa. On winter evenings, the family gathers by the soft flicker of the flames, the room filled with quiet conversation and the cosy comfort of shared time.

Lysandra’s Contemporary Haven

Lysandra, on the other hand, leaned into a moodier, more dramatic aesthetic. She chose the Escea DF960 Gas Fireplace, a classic design with a framed finish, angled base, and a striking fuelbed that anchors the space with bold presence.

“For me, it was about creating that contemporary, dramatic feel,” Lysandra explains. “The fireplace gave me the look I wanted — it’s the heart of the living space, and it sets the tone for everything else.”
