SALIFE The Collector’s Issue 2025

Dec 01, 2025, updated Dec 01, 2025

On shelves now, our Collector’s Issue brings you a beautiful round-up of some of our favourite things for the year, along with some spectacular homes, recipes and fashion.

As we move towards the close of the year, we reflect on the 12 months that were, while creating a vision for the dozen that stretch ahead of us.

While we don’t need a date on a calendar to tell us when to begin any kind of self-improvement or when the deadline comes to a head, there’s something that feels fresh about cracking open a new calendar – if you’re like me and prefer pages you can touch.

As I’m writing this, I’ve picked up my “goals” list to take stock on how I’ve done this year and I’ve stumbled across a page titled ‘2021 goals’.

Five years on, how did I do?

Well, I failed quite miserably. Run City to Bay – I’m still yet to attempt it. Really learn my way around a camera. The best I can do is hit that white circle on my phone.

This year, I’m not formally putting together a list of goals. I don’t want to look back in five years to discover I still haven’t ticked everything – or anything – off.

Instead, I’m going to spend this year focusing on the opportunities and experiences that come my way, taking away the pressure of ticking off a list.

All of us in the writers’ seats at SALIFE have been busy putting together some of our absolute favourite things we discovered – or re-discovered – this year.

We’ve rounded up our favourite restaurants, snacks, homes, designers, people, experiences, stays, South Australian products and artists.

One of those local artists, Eliza Piro, has allowed us to use her work on this month’s special cover.

Eliza’s piece, titled Major Mitchell Garden, is a gorgeous celebration of nature and the stillness and calm it brings to our daily lives – something we surely can use in the run up to the end of the year.

It’s the time of year when we start planning a bit of summer reading and, this month, we talk to internationally acclaimed South Australian author Fiona McIntosh about the new leading man in her life – her gorgeous grandson Henry.

We also feature two homes – one colourful, coastal beauty, and one designed around the owners’ love of music.

Whether you’re a resolution-maker or not, I hope your year to come is filled with positivity and perhaps some happy, unexpected things.

And, of course, from all of us here at SALIFE, we wish you a very festive Christmas and happy New Year.
