SALIFE The Christmas Issue

Oct 31, 2025, updated Oct 31, 2025

Welcome to our Christmas Issue – the magazine we look forward to each year, filled with Christmas recipes, tips and cheer. You’ll find us on shelves from Monday.

Christmas decorations and mince pies have been lining the shelves in stores for weeks, but to me, November truly heralds the festive season.

The countdown to the end of year break is on, gift-buying begins and plans for the big day start coming together.

This time of year, I love hearing all the lovely traditions different families hold on to – and the new ones they’re creating.

There are night outings to see the lights, special recipes, treasured tree ornaments and fun activities.

Traditions like these are what make wonderful memories and it’s something special when you go from soaking up the magic as a child to creating it as an adult.

This month, I loved sitting down with former magazine editor and craft queen Alexis Teasdale to chat about everything she loves about this time of year and how she sprinkles her Christmas magic.

Alexis throws a cocktail party for some of her nearest and dearest friends and lets loose with her passion – event styling. She’s created a pink and red dream, with so much thought put into all the little touches. My favourite was the mantle lined with golden-hued candlestick holders, each tied with a pretty ribbon – so easy and effective.

If you’re in search of yet more inspiration, Jessica Galletly has gathered a few creatives and asked them to set a Christmas table. The results are fun, colourful and very chic.

One of my goals this year – and yes, I know we’re rapidly approaching my deadline – was to build up a go-to suite of easy, yet impressive entertaining dishes. I’m not quite there, but Kane Pollard has me covered in one hit. How fun are the raspberry popsicles with Aperol spritz? This will be one recipe that actually makes it from the magazine page to my kitchen.

Then we pay tribute to loved and respected South Australian businessman, husband, father and grandfather, Anthony Toop, who sadly passed away last month.

Anthony’s wife Sylvia and daughters Genevieve and Suzannah share their special memories of the TOOP+TOOP co-founder. Vale Anthony.

To end, a little note from me about our long-time director of advertising, Brooke Seward, who has just taken on the role of publisher of this magazine.

Brooke has helped to build SALIFE in so many ways and I’m delighted to see her take the step into this position.

Happy Christmas planning, and we’ll see you again next month with our special Collector’s Issue.
