Footy meets flavour in the Barossa

Mar 20, 2026, updated Mar 20, 2026

When the final siren sounds at Barossa Park on Saturday, 11 April, the party is just getting started as Tanunda’s main street transforms into the ultimate post-match destination with food, wine and entertainment.

From final siren to street party

As South Australia takes centre stage for AFL Gather Round, the Barossa is serving up an experience that goes far beyond the boundary line. Just a short trip from the on-field action in Lyndoch, the Barossa Food & Wine Village in Tanunda invites visitors to keep the energy going long after the final siren.

Set along Murray Street, this vibrant, family-friendly precinct will come alive with the region’s best food, wine and entertainment, offering a relaxed, welcoming space for fans, families and food and wine lovers alike.

A taste of the Barossa

Curated by The Barossa Council, the Barossa Food and Wine Village is a celebration of local flavour, offering visitors and locals a chance to enjoy some of Barossa’s best food and wine. Expect a curated lineup of local wineries breweries and distilleries, including Yalumba, Peter Lehmann Wines, Rehn Bier, Seppeltsfield Rd Distillers and Forage Supply Co pouring their finest, alongside an impressive spread of food vendors serving everything from gourmet bites to crowd-favourite comfort eats.

More than just food and wine

It’s the perfect place to head post-game with live music and entertainment guaranteed to keep the atmosphere buzzing into the evening, while family-friendly elements ensure there’s something for all ages.

Adelaide indie pop band, The Tullamarines will headline the entertainment, supported by local live artists and DJ Alex Hosking to keep the vibes and atmosphere high. Two big screens streaming live coverage of other Gather Round games, means not a moment of footy is missed, while a Coles Healthy Kids’ zone, footy activities, Central District Football Club player appearances, giveaways and entertainment ensure the whole family is catered for.

It’s this blend of sport, culture and community that makes this event a highlight on the Festival of Footy calendar. You don’t need to be a die-hard footy fan to enjoy it either, just bring your appetite and a sense of fun.

Easy to get there and back

Getting to the Barossa Food & Wine Village couldn’t be simpler. Shuttle buses will run from Lyndoch to Tanunda after the North Melbourne v Brisbane game, making it easy for fans to transition from footy to festivities. And for the journey home, buses have been secured to transport visitors from Tanunda Recreation Park to Gawler, connecting with train services. At just $10 per person (bookings required), it’s a convenient and stress-free way to enjoy the evening without worrying about the drive.
