Jul 31, 2025, updated Jul 31, 2025

Zoe Rice will become the new editor of SALIFE from Monday, having worked on the magazine for more than a decade.

Zoe, who has been deputy editor of SALIFE since 2022, takes on the premier South Australian publishing role from Liz Walsh, who has been associated with SALIFE since its early days and had returned to be the position of editor for the past three years.

“I’ve been passionate about this magazine for so long and am looking forward to continuing its vision, which has always been to tell the stories of this state and its wonderful people,” Zoe, who started with the magazine in 2013, says.

“I’m excited to be in the editor’s chair for the next iteration of SALIFE.”

SALIFE is published by Solstice Media, which also publishes InDailySA and in Queensland, CityMag and The Weekend Edition, and national brands, The New Daily and 7am.

Solstice Media managing director, Paul Hamra said SALIFE is a South Australian institution and the role of editor is an important curator – uncovering stories, setting standards and showcasing the best of the state.

“The SALIFE editorial team is the best and it’s encouraging – no, inspiring – that the next generation editor has worked in this team and risen to this position,” Hamra says.

“Zoe will be fantastic in the role.”

Zoe says it is sad to farewell outgoing editor Liz Walsh who has taken the magazine to new heights over the past three years.

“The editorial team, and our wider SALIFE teams, count ourselves as very lucky to have been under the guidance of Liz for the past few years and we wish her all the best for the future,” Zoe says.

Liz, an award-winning journalist, has worked in the media for more than two decades.

“Since the magazine’s inception in 2003, SALIFE has had an unwavering passion to capture the essence of South Australia and I’m incredibly proud to have been a part of that endeavour,” Liz says.

“I have been so lucky to have worked alongside our hardworking team to uncover the stories that showcase the absolute best of our diverse state, not just for readers here in South Australia, but for readers far beyond.

“I thank the broader SALIFE team – our writers, photographers, designers, as well as our fabulous advertisers, sponsors and supporters – who help the magazine continue in this undertaking.

“Zoe has been a part of the SALIFE team for nearly 12 years, with almost three years as deputy, and has been pivotal to the magazine’s success. I can’t wait to see where she takes the publication under her stewardship.”

Zoe starts in the role on Monday, August 4.
