A council has appointed a new CEO, three months after members voted to sack its previous leader.

Adelaide Hills Council has appointed Jade Ballantine as its new chief executive .
It follows Adelaide Hills councillors voting to terminate the employment of former CEO Greg Georgopoulos following a special council meeting in July.
Georgopoulos took home six months’ pay in lieu of notice from his $278,710 annual salary, while Roberto Bria served as the acting CEO during the recruitment process.
Ballantine takes on the role permanently after councillors unanimously endorsed the appointment at a special meeting on October 19.

Mayor Nathan Daniell said Ballantine had brought a strong understanding of the Adelaide Hills community and council organisation.
“Jade brings a strong commitment to our community and extensive regional experience that will support the delivery of high-quality services and infrastructure for Adelaide Hills residents,” Daniell said.
“Jade understands the strengths of our organisation and the importance of a collaborative culture. Her leadership will be key to building on those strengths, supporting our people and ensuring we work effectively towards shared goals.”
Ballantine has extensive local government experience and is currently the Adelaide Hills Council director of environment and infrastructure.
She previously served as director of city growth at Whyalla Council, and was director of infrastructure, planning and environment at the City of Port Lincoln.
Ballantine has also worked for Regional Development Australia on Eyre Peninsula development initiatives and was the former manager of the Watershed Protection Office of the Environment Protection Authority based in Stirling.
“I’m proud to lead the Adelaide Hills Council as CEO, ensuring our organisation delivers on the essential everyday services that sustain our community and visitors to our region,” Ballantine said.
