An Adelaide man’s carefully laid plan for a surprise proposal has the internet lighting up. See the video and take our poll about whether you think it’s a romantic spot.
An Adelaide man has pulled off the ultimate proposal at Adelaide Airport, claiming it was the “perfect place” to surprise his now fiancee.
Brayden Hunter popped the question to Macayla Goodridge last night, when she returned from a trip to Bali with her mother and sisters.
But it was not a covert proposal mission.
The 31-year-old instead dropped to one knee beside a very noticeable giant love-heart shaped wreath of red roses and a neon sign asking: “will you many me?”
And staff from Adelaide Airport captured the whole thing – with the footage now going viral on social media.
“I’d been thinking about proposing for a little while,” Hunter, 31, told InDaily.
“And because all her family was going to be at the airport, I knew it was the perfect time.”
Footage shows Hunter proposing to a clearly shocked Goodridge, 24, as she wheeled her luggage through the airport’s international arrivals terminal.
He drops to one knee and slips a ring onto her shaking finger as their family – including the couple’s two children – watch on before a crowd of well-wishers erupts in applause.
Adelaide Airport’s executive general manager Alicia Bickmore told InDaily it was an “amazing” propsal.
“One of the perks of working at an airport is being fortunate enough to witness these ‘Love Actually’ moments in the terminal from time to time, but Brayden has certainly taken it to a new level,” she said.
“After Brayden reached out to share his exciting news, we were pleased to support him and help coordinate the preparations in the International Arrivals area.
“Congratulations to Brayden and Macayla, we wish you both the best for your future.”
The airport’s footage of the proposal has been viewed more than 33,000 times since it was uploaded on the Adelaide Airport socials this morning and has been flooded with happy comments for the couple.
“Congratulations to a sweet couple,” one posted.
“What a romantic and lovely day,” wrote another.
The flowers and sign were supplied from Adelaide business Set & Scene Events, who helped coordinate installation at the airport.
“Such a special moment,” the business commented on the post.
“Thank you Adelaide Airport for allowing us to make this happen.”
The happy couple plan to tie the knot next year or the year after – with Hunter saying they could return to the airport for the big day.
“Definitely we could be going back to Bali,” he said.
