US President Donald Trump has lashed out at Britain and other nations affected by fuel shortages, telling them to “go get your own oil”.

In a sign of frustration, Trump said countries that “can’t get jet fuel” because of the Strait of Hormuz closure should muster up some “courage” and “just TAKE IT”.

“You’ll have to start learning how to fight for yourself, the U.S.A. won’t be there to help you anymore, just like you weren’t there for us,” he posted on Truth Social overnight Tuesday (AEDT).

“Iran has been, essentially, decimated. The hard part is done. Go get your own oil!”

Trump singled out Britain and France as unhelpful in the month-long war that has roiled global markets, driven up energy prices and allowed Iran ‌to mostly close oil tanker traffic through the Strait.

He criticised France for not letting planes carrying military supplies to Israel fly over French territory.

“France has been VERY UNHELPFUL with respect to the ‘Butcher of Iran’, who has been successfully eliminated! The U.S.A. will REMEMBER!!!” he wrote in a follow-up post.

Trump’s social media post came after US strikes hit a city that is home to one of Iran’s main nuclear sites, sending a massive fireball into the sky, and Iran attacked a fully loaded Kuwaiti oil tanker in the Persian Gulf.

US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth claimed more vessels were flowing ‌through the ‌Strait of Hormuz.

“There are countries around the world ‌who ought to be prepared to ‌step up on this critical waterway as well,” he ‌said.

Not long after Trump’s spray for Britain, Buckingham Palace announced the King would soon make a state visit to the US to celebrate the 250th anniversary of American independence and to mark the close ties that exist between the two countries.

The King and Queen’s long-expected trip to see Trump will go ahead in late April, despite calls for it to be postponed because of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

Trump is known to be fond of the royal family but has had little patience with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who has offered only defensive support for his longtime ally in the Iran war.

British opposition Liberal Democrats leader Ed Davey condemned the decision to continue with the trip and accused Starmer of showing a “staggering lack of backbone” while Trump treated Britain with contempt.

The official announcement from Buckingham Palace came less than an hour after Trump told Britain to secure the Strait of Hormuz itself and “go get your own oil”.

The King and Queen’s state visit would be a “momentous occasion,” Trump said in an online post soon after.

The King has visited the US 19 times but it will be his first state visit as monarch.

His mother, Queen Elizabeth II, made four state visits to the US.

Next month’s date follows Trump’s state visit to Britain last September. That was a glittering occasion featuring dazzling tiaras, brass bands and a sumptuous banquet served on 200-year-old silver.

Such spectacles are meant to bolster ties between countries, particularly in difficult times.

The King also will travel to Bermuda in April, his first visit to an overseas territory as monarch.
