The Garden of Unearthly Delights is set to host more than 115 shows this season, up from 80 shows last year, with 39 South Australian premieres and 23 world premieres.

At an official program unveiling on Thursday, Arts Minister Andrea Michaels promised the garden would offer a mix of comedy, magic, circus and a range of family entertainment.

“It’s the biggest and most ambitious program they’ve had — everything from circus to comedians to magicians,” Michaels said.

“There’s a whole range of shows for young, old and families, so there’s something here for everyone.”

Garden of Unearthly Delights co-producer Sarah Stewart said it was a no-brainer to open a week early.

“Last year we really felt there were so many shows that wanted to come for a longer time, particularly shows from overseas.

“It makes sense for them to be here longer, so we wanted to expand the program and give a little bit more time,” she said.

Stewart said she was “feeling really good” about early ticket sales, with some big local and international acts headlining the Garden’s biggest year yet.

“The public can expect a huge amount of diversity — the best part is the combination of what you can see and what you can experience.”

Internationally acclaimed performer Charlie Caper is bringing his blend of magic and creative technology, while the Alphabet of Awesome Science show will provide immersive science fit for the whole family.

Two new venues, The Criterion and The Paragon, are set to support the growing number of shows to grace the Garden this year.

The Garden of Unearthly Delights will open tomorrow prior to the Fringe program, which will run from 20 February to 22 March.
