A traditional girls name popular with the royals took out the top spot for the second year in a row while over 120 boys born this year had the top-scoring name. See which names made the list.

For the second year in a row, Charlotte is the most popular baby girl name in South Australia, claiming 95 newborns.
It narrowly beat Isla by just two births, while 122 baby boys were named Oliver – the name securing the top spot for the 13th year in a row.
The name Noah narrowly edged out Henry to claim the second most popular boy’s name with 108 births.
Floral names sprouted in popularity this year, with Violet growing from the 22nd most popular name in 2024 to the eighth spot this year.
Likewise, Daisy bloomed from the 24th most popular name in 2024 to the ninth spot in 2025.
The letter H was equally popular with Harper and Hazel tying for fourth place with 69 babies born to each name.
Likewise for the boys, Charlie and Elijah tied for eighth place with 75 babies born.
The list was released by SA’s consumer and business affairs minister Andrea Michaels today, who said it showed “remarkable” continuity.
South Australians have 60 days to register the names of their newborns with Births Deaths and Marriages.
The final list of the top 100 baby names of 2025 will be published in 2026.
