Showcasing South Australians’ drive, passion and determination for their local communities, voting has begun for the Regional Showcase Awards 2025.
Regional South Australian stories capture the heart of country life, sharing moments of kindness, resilience and the strength that comes from community.
The South Australian Regional Showcase Awards celebrate the 20 most uplifting stories of the year – stories that shine a light on people making a positive difference and inspiring others along the way.
It’s also a chance to support local businesses, with the showcase highlighting fresh ideas, creative design and innovation happening across the regions.
Chosen from almost 120 stories published since September 2024, the final 20 have struck a chord with readers and judges alike, reflecting the spirit and pride of regional South Australia.
“Our team of reporters works hard every day to find and report the news and to build strong relationships with South Australians right across our state,” InDaily editor Belinda Willis said.
“That’s where you come in. We rely on you to give us a call, send an email or DM our socials with tips on potential stories. Help us better represent your community by telling us what is happening and we will get the message out.”
The five selected categories for the showcase, as judged by the InDaily Regional Showcase partners, are: Regional Resilience, Meaningful Connections, Business Innovation, Community Empowerment and Lifelong Learning.
The general public and program stakeholders vote on their favourite story from the selection, contributing to the result of the People’s Choice Award.
The People’s Choice winner for 2024 was Cream of the crop with Cadell Prison’s new dairy for its prisoner rehabilitation project.
From dancing for community wellbeing to a basketball doco scoring on the international stage and volunteers preserving South Australia’s regional history, the state’s regions are bursting with uplifting stories.
“It has been a particularly tough year for our regions as farmers and communities struggle with the devastating impact of drought,” Willis said.
“Our regional towns and regions face ongoing challenges with struggling health facilities, a lack of housing and worker shortages.
“And yet the people living in these communities pull together to support their friends, families and neighbours, constantly coming up with new ideas to grow businesses, establish support groups or protect their environments.
“In a news cycle constantly filled with doom and gloom, InDaily is committed to also shining a light on these uplifting stories happening right across our state.”
The voting closes on September 29 at 11:59pm.
