Analysts are warning of a “volatile week” this week as the annual general meeting season continues and a decision looms on the interest rates.

The Reserve Bank is set to meet tomorrow on Melbourne Cup Day, with experts widely expecting another rates hike after domestic inflation rose once again in October.

It was not a strong October for South Australian companies listed on the Australian Securities Exchange.

Of the companies tracked by this column, shares fell by 11.1 per cent on average for the month.

This trended in line with the sell-off witnessed in materials and micro-cap stocks nationally, Baker Young analysts said.

The broader market ended October up 1.4 per cent, led by the large ASX Top 20 stocks.

As for last week, Australian Rare Earths led the Winners list, rising by 20.69 per cent at the end of the five trading days.

Other mining and resources companies followed, including Jade Gas (up 16.67 per cent), Kantra Copper (up 14.85 per cent) and Renascor Resources (up 11.90 per cent).

But the Losers list was peppered with mining and energy businesses, including Magnetite Mines and Vintage Energy, which both fell by more than 33 per cent in the week.
