Australian Dental Foundation’s major toothpaste donation

Australian Dental Foundation celebrated its annual Brush for Good Day on 31 July by donating 4,800 tubes of toothpaste to children supported by South Australia’s child protection and family support system.

This move is part of an ongoing collaboration with the Department for Child Protection to ensure the state’s most vulnerable children are receiving support for their oral health, and comes in addition to dental checkups and treatments the foundation provides regularly in more than 350 schools and childcare centres across SA.

ADF Chairman Dr Greg Miller calls the initiative “an important way to remind people about the importance of dental care.”

“Brushing your teeth twice a day is the number one way to prevent dental problems,” Dr Miller said.

ADF’s collaboration with the DCP also includes the provision of emergency dental treatment for children in care, dental and orthodontic assistance for those transitioning out of state care and clinics at DCP offices throughout SA during the school holidays.

Resolution completes Horse Heaven acquisition

Resolution Minerals has completed its acquisition of an Idaho rare metals project.

The acquisition gives the Adelaide-based miner 699 federal lode mining claims covering over 5,644 hectares.

Horse Heaven is home to a number of past-producing Antimony, Tungsten and gold mines.

“Horse Heaven is not just a mining project, it’s a potential solution to a pressing national security challenge,” RML executive director Aharon Zaetz said.

“We are now fully focused on delivering that vision.”

Women in property program celebrates ten years

The Property Council’s 500 Women in Property program celebrated its 10th anniversary at its Adelaide launch last week.

Established to address the underrepresentation of women in leadership roles in the industry, the program assists women through a one-on-one sponsorship program where participants are supported by industry leaders.

More than 5500 women have been supported nationally since its inception, Property Council South Australian executive director Bruce Djite said.

“The property industry offers incredible career opportunities, but has traditionally been a male dominated industry,” he said.

“In 2025, it’s inspiring to see so many talented women rising through the ranks of South Australia’s property industry — having a seat at the table, driving deals, leading projects, and shaping our cities, but more still needs to be done.

“Over the past decade, the 500 Women in Property program has supported more than 5,500 women by breaking down barriers, expanding professional networks, and amplifying female voices.”

Santos hits milestone on Canadian project

Key processing modules for Santos’ Pikka phase 1 project have arrived at Oliktok Point, Alaska, as part of a “complex operation”.

The modules will be installed, integrated and then commissioned together with already installed facilities in readiness for first oil, the company told shareholders.

Managing director Kevin Gallagher said the project continued to make “excellent progress”.

“Our highly capable team that delivered early completion of the pipeline in just two winter seasons followed by a successful river-lift of key processing modules, has created the opportunity for early startup and production from Pikka,” he said.

“Pikka phase 1 is almost 90 per cent complete and we are currently drilling our 21st well.”

Grand new Gawler tank supports growth

Construction of a new 3-million-litre concrete water tank in Gawler East is set to commence in late August.

The tank will be more than double the size of its predecessor and is designed to enhance the resilience of the local water network for its 6,200 existing customers, as well as pave the way for growth across the region as new homes are connected to the utility’s network.

The tank comes with a $17.7 million price tag, part of SA Water’s ongoing investments to enable housing growth throughout South Australia.

SA Water’s General Manager of Growth Amanda Lewry said “by more than doubling the capacity, we are setting up our local water network for the future to support an increase in demand over time as more homes are built throughout Adelaide’s outer north”.

Existing customers will be supported with bypass arrangements to ensure that they continue to receive water until the new tank is completed in mid-2026.

The previous tank, which had a capacity of 1.27 million litres, was demolished in July. It had been in operation since 1907.

Registrations open for Small Business Week 2025

Registrations are now open to attend South Australia’s Small Business Week 2025, taking place from 22 September to 26 September of this year.

The event is a key part of the state government’s Small Business Strategy and kicks off with a free welcome event and expo on Monday 22 September, which will provide information about government services supporting small business owners.

The week’s theme is building capability, with in-person mentoring sessions, networking opportunities and masterclasses covering the Government’s Women in Business program, the digital environment, cyber resilience and growing a successful team.

There will also be events hosted in regional South Australia, as well as a series of online content including exporting, commercial leasing, tax management and looking after your mental health.

Minister for Small and Family Business Andrea Michaels calls Small Business Week “a perfect opportunity for small business owners to take some time out of their business to work on it for the future”.

Holly Stratton, Founder of A Taste of the Hills Festival and alumnus of the Women in Business program called it “a fantastic opportunity to try out mentorship in areas where I really needed some guidance for improving my business”.

Rare CBD development opportunity in Adelaide precinct

Colliers has listed a landmark Halifax Street site with triple frontage and upscale potential.

The substantial freehold site is located in the heart of Adelaide’s south-eastern CBD at 243-253 Halifax Street, spanning approximately 2,310sqm across four Certificates of Title and boasting 148 metres of triple street frontage.

Existing improvements comprise a two-storey commercial building with office space, warehousing and storage, offering potential for holding income or adaptive reuse.

Jordan Schmidt, Colliers head of office capital markets & investment services South Australia, said the site was “a truly rare opportunity to secure a significant landholding in a tightly held and rapidly transforming precinct”.

“The property qualifies as a Catalyst Site under the City of Adelaide Development Plan, which opens the door to greater development outcomes than the current zoning allows, which would appeal to a wide range of buyers.”

The asset comes with zero stamp duty, vacant possession and the ability to generate short-term income from the existing improvements, making it desirable for developers, owner-occupiers and investors alike.

The site is zoned City Living, allowing for developments of up to three levels, with the potential for increased scale under Catalyst Site provisions.

The property is being offered for sale with vacant possession via an Expressions of Interest Campaign closing Thursday 4 September 2025 at 2:00pm (ACST).

SA Power Networks’ charity milestone

Employees at SA Power Networks and Enerven have reached the milestone of $6 million donated to SA charities since 2006.

Last year alone saw the company’s Employee Foundation donate more than $600,000 – shared among 47 charities in support of SA communities.

The Foundation supports charities that address areas such as homelessness, disadvantaged youth, mental health, LGBTQIA+, domestic violence and cancer.

The Foundation’s Executive Officer Isabell Al-Nahat says the generosity of employees is inspiring at a time when many charities and members of the community need additional support.

She explains that “supporting SA communities is part of our DNA […] and helping more people through our Employee Foundation is an extension of that”.

Major charities the Foundation has supported over the past year include Hutt St Centre, Zahra Foundation, Backpacks 4 SA Kids, Childhood Cancer Association and more.

Micro-X enters new agreement with US healthcare provider

Medical x-ray technology company Micro-X has entered into an agreement with a major US healthcare provider to supply its Rover Plus mobile radiology system across their healthcare facilities.

This lands Micro-X on the company’s approved supply list for all of their 700+ facilities, precluding them from the requirement to enter competitive tenders to win supply contracts.

This is a major milestone for Micro-X, as it marks their first agreement with a major US healthcare provider and follows a successful in-hospital evaluation and competitive tender process conducted last year.

Micro-X chief executive officer Kingsley Hall commented that “the global healthcare market is generally conservative, typically relying on well established brands and hesitant to procure critical medical equipment from new vendors,” making this a key breakthrough for the company.

The US healthcare provider – who requested that their identity not be disclosed by Micro-X – operates a network of hospitals, surgical centres and outpatient facilities across the nation.

The volume of sales also rose across SA and metropolitan Adelaide 16.85 per cent and 21.27 per cent respectively from the previous quarter and 2.89 per cent and 4.36 per cent from the same quarter last year.
