For the second straight week the ASX 200 slid. SA stocks weren’t immune either, with declines outnumbering gains amid a turbulent geopolitical and trade environment.

NeuRizer led the Winners list this week on light trade throughout the week, followed by Spacetalk which enjoyed some positive half yearly results.

But it was the Losers that made up the bulk of the SA index, with declines outnumbering gains by more than 2:1 in the trading week.

This followed the broader trend experienced nationally, with the country’s top companies ultimately having a negative week amidst global economic, geopolitical and trade uncertainties. Not to mention a deluge of corporate earnings results for the first half of the financial year.

Viva Energy (which is based in Victoria but tracked by this column following its purchase of convenience store chain OTR) led the Losers.

It fell by 29.30 per cent in the trading week after releasing weaker than expected first half results, with convenience sales hit by cost of living pressures and the collapse in tobacco sales due to the popularity of illicit vapes.

It was followed by Orbminco (down 25 per cent), Antara Lifesciences (down 23.64 per cent) and Investigator Resources (down 23.08 per cent).

Kelsian Group rounded out the Losers after its 1H results missed expectations by about 10 per cent. Its international operations, particularly in the United States, were weaker than anticipated as demand was impacted by soft conditions and a major construction company collapsing.

Of the Winners, Spacetalk saw its revenue rise 12 per cent in the 1H and profits rose 24 per cent. The company is close to being EBITDA positive too, and investors are keen on the company’s prospects, sending its shares up by 45.45 per cent.

Australian Vintage also rose by 28 per cent after releasing its first half results.
