AI is changing business faster than organisations can rewrite their five-year plans.

This June, Flinders Business School is bringing together leading voices from finance, technology and industry to explore the opportunities, challenges and realities reshaping modern business.

Government and policy leaders, industry executives, finance and economic stakeholders, technology and innovation specialists, media representatives and future business leaders will gather at Flinders University City Campus on Tuesday, June 23, for the Flinders Business School AI Business Summit, a half-day event exploring the forces transforming the way organisations operate, compete and lead.

Hosted by renowned broadcaster and financial commentator David Koch the summit will feature keynote insights from Chris Kohler, 9News finance editor, alongside a headline interview with Jane Livesey, president of Microsoft Australia and New Zealand and perspectives from industry leaders working at the forefront of artificial intelligence and business innovation.

Expect practical insights, big ideas, and at least a few uncomfortable questions about whether AI is coming for everyone’s job.

Big names. Bigger ideas

From generative AI and productivity pressures through to workforce capability and changing market conditions, the summit will explore how organisations are balancing innovation with risk, ethics and long-term business performance.

For professionals already working in industry, the event offers practical insight into markets, technology adoption and business strategy.

For those considering postgraduate study or looking to build future-focused leadership skills, the summit provides insight into the ideas and capabilities increasingly shaping modern business.

Flinders Business School dean, Professor Angie Shafei, said the event is ultimately about helping leaders navigate digital transformation, emerging technologies and increasingly complex business environments with clarity and strategic insight.

“There is a great deal of uncertainty in the current environment, but there is also enormous opportunity,” she said. “The organisations that succeed will be those willing to embrace innovation thoughtfully, invest in people and remain adaptable.

“We want attendees to leave with practical insights, valuable connections and a stronger understanding of the trends shaping the future of business.”

Held at the university’s City Campus at Festival Plaza, the event reflects the direction of the Flinders Business School – focused on practical learning, strong industry connection, future skills and leadership for a rapidly changing economy.

Professor Angie Shafei said the summit reflects the Business School’s strong focus on preparing graduates and professionals for the rapidly evolving future of work, while strengthening collaboration between universities and industry.

“Artificial intelligence, automation, shifting workforce expectations and global economic uncertainty are fundamentally changing the way businesses operate, compete and grow,” Professor Shafei said.

“Business education needs to evolve alongside those changes. Today’s graduates and leaders need more than technical knowledge alone. They need the ability to think critically, adapt quickly and make informed decisions in increasingly complex environments.

“That is where strong industry engagement and real-world learning experiences become so important.”

Australia’s first MBA (AI)

The summit supports the upcoming launch of the new Master of Business Administration (Artificial Intelligence)* at Flinders University, set to become the first MBA of its kind in Australia.

Designed in response to rapid industry change, the program will focus on helping professionals understand and apply AI ethically and  strategically across leadership, operations, decision-making and business innovation.

The launch reflects growing momentum around the university’s business offerings and focus on leadership, innovation and digital transformation.

The Flinders Business School AI Business Summit will take place on Tuesday, June 23, from 8:30am to 11:45am at Flinders University City Campus. Secure your ticket.
