A free music festival with 40 acts will hit Port Adelaide in May, including a 13-year-old rapper on the rise. Meanwhile, the headliner for Norwood’s Gather Round festival has been revealed.

A 13-year-old Noongar Wongi rapper INKABEE will join interstate guests at a 40-act strong free music festival, New Found Sound, that will turn Port Adelaide’s historic landmarks into stages this May.

INKABEE – who just became the youngest person to take on TripleJ’s Like A Version – will join Sydney DIY punk outfit Canine, Guringai sisters Charlie Needs Braces, and Tasmanian electronic duo Mum and Dad at the one-night-only festival.

It is the first time the festival has invited interstate acts, usually focusing solely on local talent. New Found Sound, now in its third year, will feature 36 local artists, from emerging newcomers on the scene like Ella Ion to Adelaide scene stewards Colourblind playing across 10 venues.

Port Adelaide Enfield Council Deputy Mayor Barbara Clayton says the festival is “the ultimate celebration” of the precinct’s creative spirit.

“Where else can you watch artists perform in front of a 156-year-old lighthouse, jump aboard the country’s oldest clipper ship to experience one of Australia’s most acclaimed experimental musicians, take a cruise on the Port River to catch some of the state’s best folk acts, or head to one of Port Adelaide’s many iconic venues for an unforgettable afternoon and evening of live music,” she says.

Saxophonist and composer Adam Page will play the Clipper Ship, while the lineup for the Lighthouse Wharf stage includes Broken Waves, INKABEE and Miss Orange Juicy.

Popular Port Adelaide brewers Pirate Life will also host artists again, including Swapmeet and Druid Fluids, as will the Colac Hotel, which re-opened last year after the historic pub got a revamp.

The festival is one of SA’s biggest free events after attracting 5500 punters to the historic area in 2025.

It comes as Australian electronic duo The Presets have been locked in to headline a free performance at this year’s Norwood Food and Wine Festival to coincide with AFL Gather Round.

Thousands of fans are expected to flock The Parade, with last year’s Norwood Food and Wine festival hosting more than 90,000 people.

The seven-time ARIA Award winners are scheduled to grace the stage on Sunday April 12 at 5:30pm, where they will include tracks from their 2005 debut album Beams and 2008 Album of the Year winner Apocalypso.
