The relaxed, picnic atmosphere of this McLaren Vale cellar door is perfect for the whole family to laze and linger. The sprawling grounds feature a play area surrounded by flower gardens. With almond trees, alpacas and sheep just on the other side of the fence, and a chicken coop full of feathered friends, there is plenty for little ones to discover. The menu also features family friendly items – local juices and gelati pops are a favourite among the kids.

Woodstock Wine
Kids can get up close and personal with some iconic Australian native animals at Woodstock Wine’s wildlife sanctuary, in Blewitt Springs. Rescued wildlife includes a friendly emu and a whole mob of kangaroos that you can feed yourself. During winter, Woodstock Wines welcomes Gin Long Canteen to its lawns, inviting visitors to sit back and enjoy dumplings and a glass of wine while the little ones enjoy the playground. Also, find Trilby’s Chocolate factory on site to satisfy the kids’ sweet tooth.
Z Wines
It may be wine country, but kids can enjoy tastings in the Barossa Valley, too. Z Wines in Tanunda serves up carefully curated tasting planks full of local flavours – first, they’ll sample orange juice paired with Lyndoch Valley butcher smoked ham, followed by apple juice with a side of fairy bread. Then, it’s Tweedvale Milk paired with cheese, pretzels, plus marshmallows and strawberries. There’s also a kids’ corner with retro items to explore, including typewriters and old telephones.
