Radio presenter Liam Stapleton of KIIS 1023 shares his favourite SA things.
What does your idea of the perfect day look like?
It would start with a big sleep in (breakfast radio hours, you know the drill). Followed by a long walk around Adelaide with my wife Sarah and our cavoodle, Toby. A boozy lunch with our friends in the afternoon and a gig that night to top things off. Hard to beat live music at Thebby or Hindley Street Music Hall.
What is a wonderful moment of kindness you have experienced?
We were travelling in Sri Lanka recently and you know how sometimes you have to pay for the toilet in other countries? I was busting after a long road trip and I didn’t have any cash to pay. The ATM was out of order and the staff wouldn’t let me in. This random guy came over and paid for me. A good samaritan rescued me in a time of need!
What is your favourite photograph?
It’s a picture of my wife Sarah and me on our wedding day. Easily the best decision I’ve ever made; I love being married to my best friend. The day came with its challenges – our reception flooded out due to torrential rain. However, it didn’t dampen our spirits and hey, they say it’s good luck, right? I’ve definitely been lucky in love.

If you could own any piece of art, what would it be?
Probably a Banksy, a big chunk of concrete that he’s painted a rat on.
Here’s $500. You have to spend it in the next hour – what are you buying?
I’m not a super materialistic guy, I’d blow it all on a nice dinner with my wife and our friends.
A restaurant you’d recommend?
I tried Yakisan recently in the new 88 O’Connell building, it’s exceptional. Marrakech across the road is also class. Their tagines and melwi are to die for.
What was the last film/tv show you watched?
I’m watching Last One Laughing UK at the moment and it’s hilarious. Definiltey worth a watch if you want a good laugh. The latest season is so funny, Sam Campbell, Bob Mortimer and Dianne Morgan are geniuses.
Favourite way to unwind?
I’d love to say listening to classical music, painting or playing guitar but the reality is I just love zonking out in front of the TV.
Last book you read?
I skimmed The Barefoot Investor a year ago, I’m not much of a reader. It’s something I’d like to be better at. Open to recommendations guys… slide into my DM’s if you’ve read anything good.
Last song you listened to?
Slide Away by Oasis, I’m a massive fan and got to go to their very first reunion show in Cardiff last year. Easily one of the greatest nights of my life. I also interviewed Liam Gallagher in 2018, a career highlight for me.
