Tell us about you?
I sold my first painting when I was eight. Then life pulled me into special events and parties instead. I trained with [artists] Robert Hannaford and Joe Caddy early on, and while I never really put the brush down, it did take the backseat for a while. Now I’m back, paint under my fingernails, throwing myself into First Impressions, my fresh fling with watercolours, for this year’s SALA Festival at Catlin on Magill.

Best day of your life?
The day I turned up on this planet. It’s only now, as I get older, that I try to appreciate how lucky we are to share a life on this planet and create our own worlds!

What brings you joy?
Travelling with my young boys, cooking feasts for friends and family, and creating special event surprises for friends.

Best advice you’ve been given?
Live for today.

Most treasured photograph?
This is of my son Darcy, who has severe cerebral palsy. At this stage he was unable to eat, and this was the first time he ever tasted something. It was chocolate and you can see the joy in his eyes.

Best meal you’ve ever eaten?
A loaf of bread, ripe tomatoes, and cheese from an Italian market, eaten on a hillside with a glass of cheap wine. Nothing fancy, but perfect.

Best purchase?
A battered old FB Holden for $500. I lost it at a going-away party before I disappeared to Europe. Never found the car, but the stories were worth it.

Best qualities of your favourite person?
Easy going, fun, no masks, no rules — just real. Someone who knows you like no one else.

Best five songs on your playlist?
Bit old, bit new, all good:

  •      Wish You Were Here — Pink Floyd
  •      Tiny Dancer — Elton John
  •      Walk on the Wild Side — Lou Reed
  •      Budapest — George Ezra
  •      Holocene — Bon Iver
