Kate Taylor’s best life

Jul 18, 2025, updated Jul 18, 2025

As charity The 2H Project morphs into its new iteration, EveryMum, its founder Kate Taylor chats about the joy of a cosy fire and her favourite photograph that speaks to the bond of family.

Describe the best day of your life.
That’s a tough one—I’ve had quite a few truly great days, but if I had to choose just one, it would be the day I became a mum. There’s really nothing like that feeling of becoming a parent: that instant, overwhelming love for the tiny human you’ve created, mixed with wonder, excitement, and a little bit of fear. I’ve been lucky enough to experience that incredible moment three times, and then all over again being at the births of my granddaughters.

What brings you joy in life?
Definitely my family, friends, dogs, a cosy fire on a chilly night, a glass (or two) of red wine, and zoning out in a good TV series

What’s the best advice you’ve been given?
Do it afraid. That first step is always the hardest, no matter what it is. Sometimes you’ve just got to take a breath, take a risk, and give it a go – even if you’re afraid.

What is your most treasured photograph you have?
My kids and their kids — seeing the brotherly bond they have and now watching them support each other through this next chapter of life is such an incredible honour. It’s something I’ll always treasure, knowing not everyone gets to witness that kind of closeness.

Describe the best meal you’ve ever eaten.
I’m pretty spoilt in this area — my husband’s an incredible cook. So whenever he has the time to prepare a meal, it’s always “the best I’ve ever had.”

What was your best purchase?
Our home — it’s not the biggest or the grandest and she needs a bit of work, but having a place to call ‘home’ is pretty special.

What are the best qualities of your favourite person?
Big-hearted, genuine, real, kind, compassionate, considerate, and fun to be around.

What are the best five songs on your playlist?
That’s a tough one — I like a bit of everything! But if I had to pick based on who I’ve been listening to lately, it’d be a mix of Taylor Swift, Elton John, Counting Crows, Mumford & Sons, and Cold Chisel.
