With a resort-inspired design that wouldn’t look out of place on the Sunshine Coast, this West Lakes Shore home is nestled between the dunes and the lake, complete with a swimming pool, a spa and a sauna.

Dieter Eliasson was inspired by holidays in the Gold Coast when creating his resort-style home in West Lakes Shore.
He tells SALIFE he was drawn to the coastal location of the property in Adelaide’s west, nestled between West Lakes and Tennyson Beach.
“I was drawn to the location – to be surrounded by water on both sides,” says Dieter, a plumber by trade.
“If you look at a map of Adelaide, there are not many locations where you’ve got a lake and the ocean on either side of the property.”

When Dieter first moved in 15 years ago, the property comprised a 1980s brick home.
But in 2018, Dieter began working on a vision to replace the home with a new luxury abode.
Dieter took on the role of owner-builder, enlisting Alex Pritchard from Galvin Group to design the new home, with construction completed by George McQuinn from custom home builder GMC Built.
“I went and met with Alex, and he asked: ‘What was your wish list for this dream home that you want to build?’ and we came up with the design,” says Dieter.
He says the house was designed so that it has everything you need for a family, with everything built to the highest quality.
“The house really has everything – swimming pools, a spa, a sauna, pizza ovens, and all the bedrooms have got spacious walk-in wardrobes,” Dieter says.
Built over two years, the beach-themed home includes four bedrooms, four bathrooms and parking space for up to six cars.

The bathrooms feature freestanding Balinese bathtubs, with the master ensuite affording postcard views of the surrounding sand dunes.
Other standout features include a chef-worthy kitchen, a mirrored wine cabinet, a dual-way fireplace clad in stone, a games room with a bar, a private cinema, an alfresco entertaining space, a cedar-lined sauna, a solar-heated swimming pool and a jet spa.
The beach theme continues throughout the dwelling, with the use of timber, whitewash floorboards and rattan light fittings for the interiors.
Outdoors, the garden has been landscaped with “beachy” plants such as succulents.
An emphasis has also been placed on natural products, such as the pizza oven with mosaic tiles, millboard for the decking, and a concrete benchtop.
Dieter says his favourite spaces are the kitchen, the sauna and the master bedroom.

“When the automated blinds in the master bedroom open up in the morning, there’s the view of the ocean and the lake – it’s quite nice,” he says.
“It’s very luxurious; I love that room.”
But after 15 years of calling West Lakes Shore home, Dieter has now relocated interstate.
“When you’re at home here, it feels like you’re on holiday,” he says.
“It’s got that resort, Queensland-y feel – the backyard is basically sand dunes, and then looking out the kitchen window, you’re looking over the lake.”
The sale of 1 Coronado Court, West Lakes Shore, is being handled by Grant Giordano and Jacqui Ilicic of Giordano & Partners.
