As demand for crisis support soars, Lifeline Adelaide’s Gala Ball returns to fund the volunteers answering thousands of calls from people in need.
Slip into something sparkly and get ready for a night that’s as meaningful as it is memorable – the Lifeline Adelaide Gala Ball is back this August for its second year, bringing purpose and party to the city.
Held on Friday, 8 August at U City in the heart of the CBD, the black-tie event promises an unforgettable evening of gourmet food, local wine, dancing and connection – all in support of Lifeline’s life-saving work in suicide prevention and emotional crisis support.
With the theme “Lighting up the Darkness”, the gala will raise essential funds for Lifeline Adelaide’s phone room, where highly trained volunteers are ready to offer support to people experiencing emotional distress.
“Last year, our local Crisis Supporters answered 39,925 calls from help seekers across the country,” said Chelsey Potter, Senior Manager of Advocacy, Communication and Marketing at Uniting Communities.
“2024 marked our busiest year ever. In fact, over the past five years, calls to Lifeline Adelaide have grown by more than 44 per cent,”
Now in its second year, the Gala Ball is already building a reputation as a fabulous night out with real impact. Everyone is welcome – and every ticket sold helps ensure someone will be there when the next person reaches out.
Individual tickets are $220, or $2,000 for a table of ten, with all proceeds going directly to Lifeline Adelaide. It’s the kind of event that pairs celebration with real purpose – a night of good food, great company, and community spirit.
The evening includes a two-course culinary experience by renowned caterers Blanco Horner, paired with premium South Australian wines, a buzzing dance floor led by Adelaide DJ duo Choons & Moovz, and a live auction featuring luxury and one-of-a-kind prizes and experiences.
This year’s event will once again be hosted by the Premier’s Advocate for Suicide Prevention and Member for Elder, Nadia Clancy MP and will include powerful stories from Lifeline’s dedicated phone room volunteers, who offer calm, connection and hope to people on some of the worst days of their lives.
“As the Premier’s Advocate for Suicide Prevention, I am really looking forward to emceeing the Lifeline Adelaide Gala again,” said Ms Clancy.
“It’s a great opportunity to hear from Lifeline volunteers, celebrate their work and raise money for an organisation that saves lives every single day,”
Every call for help deserves to be answered – and this gala helps make that possible.
Lifeline is Australia’s leading suicide prevention service, answering more than 1.1 million calls, texts and online chats each year – that’s a new contact every 28 seconds. Suicide remains the leading cause of death for Australians aged 15 to 44. The rates are even higher among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, and men account for three in four suicide deaths nationally.
The Gala Ball is open to anyone who wants to enjoy an unforgettable evening and make a tangible difference. Formal dress is encouraged – sequins and sparkles very much welcome.
