In a bizarre irony, an ice cream van melted last night in a suspicious fire at Elizabeth South.

South Australian police are investigating a suspicious fire at Elizabeth South last night, which resulted in an ice cream van catching alight.
Police and fire crews were called to Jeffries Road just after 8pm on Sunday, April 12, after reports that the van was on fire.
The stationary pink and white truck was already up in flames as emergency crews arrived, but it was soon extinguished.
A spokesperson for Metropolitan Fire Service (MFS) said the blaze was sparked by an air conditioning unit on the van.
Four firefighters attended the scene in a single engine, wearing breathing apparatuses and using a high-pressure hose line to put out the fire within five minutes.
Fortunately, there were no reports of injuries, but crime scene investigators attended and examined the scene, with police treating the incident as suspicious.
Police are calling on anyone who saw suspicious activity of vehicles in the area last night or has any dashcam or CCTV footage to contact Crime Stoppers.
According to latest MFS data, there were 433 vehicle fire incidents in the 2024-25 financial year.
SAPOL responded to 90 offences of property damage caused by fire or explosion in 2024-25.
