A $120 million dollar ‘H-Bahn’ for Hahndorf? RAA’s Pothole Patrol? These are the best South Aussie April Fools’ Day pranks of 2026.

Some of SA’s most iconic brands and places have been getting into the April Fool’s Day Spirit; sharing their own wacky stories in a bid to trick their followers. Were you fooled by any of these headlines?
An Adelaide Hills town struggling with its unique set of traffic issues appeared to be leaning in to its German roots this morning. The Hahndorf social media page announcing its tongue-in-cheek $120 million dollar “H-Bahn” to revolutionise travel.

The town’s Instagram page described the German-engineered busway as “loosely inspired by the German Hängebahn”, featuring a 1.4-kilometre concrete guideway running alongside Main Street which would allow six custom vehicles to travel through the heritage precinct at speeds of up to 100 km/h.
“Each bus will be fitted with a timber-panelled interior ‘inspired by Bavarian craftsmanship’, cuckoo clocks above each door, and an onboard audio system playing traditional German music 24/7,” the post said.
Perfekt.
FruChocs have teased an on-demand drone delivery service that will operate seven days a week.
Fruber Treats, they say, will make sure you never run out of the snack with FruChocs “Frubered to your door within minutes”.

This is one prank this reporter wishes were true.
Bold plans for SA’s biggest theme park have been announced, with Gumeracha tourist attraction the Big Rocking Horse revealing “around thee acres of unused land behind the animal park and have finally got all the approvals to build it”.

“There will be adventure for all ages and the best thing will be a rocking horse that rocks,” they announced on Facebook.
“Move over Luna Park.”
The attraction is slated to open in October. Giddy up.
The state’s peak motoring body is taking its roadside service to new levels. Literally.
From today, a new statewide trial will be launched to re-level and re-seal SA roads with a patent-pending “pothole patcher”, the RAA said in a statement.

“South Australia has more than 30,000 kilometres of sealed roads – and our patrols are on them every single day,” the statement said.
“From today, RAA patrol vehicles are fitted with a patent-pending Pothole Patcher that will automatically detect and repair potholes and broken road edges as our patrols drive between callouts.”
Now if only they could help with the cost of fuel…
One of South Australia’s other icons teased its followers on social media with a fine looking dispenser produced especially for Farmers Union Iced Coffee.
It’s post announcing the “4L FUIC Fridge Friend 😉 Box in the fridge. Tap at the ready. Say less.” was met with delight by its followers.
“Hardest part about April 1 every year is seeing all the absolute banger of ideas FUIC come up with and knowing you can’t have it,” one commenter quipped.
