Dancing with the Stars champ Robert Irwin is causing another stir online, this time for his wild moves during Bad Bunny’s half-time show at the Super Bowl.

Irwin, who won the US version of the TV show in November, was back in America this week for his first Super Bowl.

He was among scores of celebrities at Sunday’s game between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots in California, showing off his moves as the Puerto Rican singer performed.

One post, in particular, has caused a stir with an Irwin fan firmly tongue in cheek praising him as a “white boy who doesn’t know a lick of Spanish living his best life to Bad Bunny with no problem”.

That post earned a community note, with other X users noting the “random white boy” was Irwin, “renowned conservationist and son of the Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin”.

“His father did not wrestle crocodiles, wrangle cobras and box kangaroos for you to call Robert Irwin some random white boy,” X user Matt Royer wrote.

After the game, 22-year-old Irwin told US his first Super Bowl experience was “insane”.

“[I’m] not in Australia anymore!” he said.

Irwin said his mother Terri was from the Pacific Northwest.

“Going into it, I’m like ‘Hawks all the way’. So, it was a lot of fun, but it was a spectacle,” he said.

“It just kind of brings together everyone, which was really special.”

Irwin was in San Francisco to help promote the first NFL game to be played in Australia. It will be held at the MCG next year, between the 49ers and the Los Angeles Rams.

“I’m excited to welcome everybody to Australia,” he said.

“I think this is going to be a great way for people, you know, the NFL crowd to get into everything that’s so beautiful about Oz.”

But he also has plans for a Super Bowl re-run next year.

“I am there. I am there, 100 per cent,” Irwin told the show.

He also added his praise for Bad Bunny’s acclaimed half-time show, calling it “all-time”.

“I think it was the absolute best,” he said. “I mean, it felt like … you were coming home … like you were part of someone’s story, you were in someone’s backyard … It was beautiful. It was personal. It was heartfelt and plus that bloke can groove … he’s got the sauce.”

“If Bad Bunny pointed me out, I was ready to just like rip away and go full salsa.”

Bad Bunny’s 14-minute Super Bowl set included guest performances from Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin, along with cameos from Pedro Pascal, Cardi B, Karol G and Jessica Alba.

It has been widely praised – although not universally. It was the first half-time show performed entirely in Spanish, and earned the wrath of US President Donald Trump, who said the performance wasabsolutely terrible”.

“One of the worst, EVER!” he wrote on Truth Social

“It makes no sense, is an affront to the Greatness of America, and doesn’t represent our standards of Success, Creativity, or Excellence.

“Nobody understands a word this guy is saying, and the dancing is disgusting, especially for young children that are watching from throughout the USA, and all over the World. This “Show” is just a “slap in the face” to our Country, which is setting new standards and records every single day – including the Best Stock Market and 401(k)s in History!

Viewing figures are due to be released shortly for Bad Bunny’s show, although the Super Bowl half-time shows usually notch about 100 million viewers.

Sunday also featured a rival half-time show hosted by conservative group Turning Point USA and screened on YouTube and other platforms.

Turning Point spokesperson Andrew Kolvet told Fox News host Brian Kilmeade that “at one point” roughly 10 million people were watching the Kid Rock show live across all social media platforms.
