Princess of Wales debuts new post-holiday look

The Princess of Wales has returned to work after a summer holiday – but it was the transformation of her chestnut-brown hair to a much lighter shade of blonde that drew much of the media attention.

The Princess of Wales’s new blonde hairstyle has stolen the headlines after she and husband William returned to work after their European summer holiday.

The royal couple visited London’s Natural History Museum on Thursday (local time) to view its gardens and meet with local school children.

Kate has been patron of the museum since 2013.

As the museum showcased its environmental program for kids, it was the transformation of Kate’s chestnut-brown hair to a much lighter shade of blonde that drew much of the media attention.

The princess’s long locks were also styled in tight springy curls rather than her signature large waves.

The internet was abuzz last month when Kate was spotted through a car window, seemingly sporting a new blonde do, but the images were grainy.

The Wales family spent part of the European summer on a luxury yacht along the coast of Kefalonia, off mainland Greece, and then went to Scotland to stay with the King and the wider family at Balmoral Castle.

It wasn’t until Kate stepped out with the Prince of Wales for their official engagement this week that it was confirmed that the royal mum was officially (almost) a blonde.

The Prince and Princess were all business, however, as they toured the National History Museum to see how it inspires young people to connect with nature.

They met local children from Kender Primary School, Lewisham, and students from Co-op Academy Manchester, who were part of the program.

“The National Education Park Program is inspiring young people to connect with nature, and to create more green spaces and habitats that benefit both wildlife and their community,” the royals posted to X.

Mother Nature also made a surprise appearance when it began raining on the royals and children.

“Even with the rain, it was great seeing how the gardens and National Education Nature Park program are helping young people to connect to nature, combining outdoor learning with wellbeing activities,” the couple posted.

The Natural History Museum said Kate and William met students who were transforming their school grounds from “grey to green”.

“It’s been a pleasure to welcome Their Royal Highnesses to the Museum gardens today and share how our outdoor galleries are contributing to scientific understanding of urban nature,” museum director Dr Doug Gurr said.

“It was fantastic to introduce them to young people who are making a difference for nature as part of the National Education Nature Park program, which already has over a quarter of schools in England on board, putting nature and climate at the heart of education.”
