SA Water has appointed John Penicud as its new general manager of operations and maintenance.

Penicud is a leader across the water and energy utilities sector with more than two decades of experience in the United Kingdom.
He was recently the managing director of wastewater at Southern Water in England, where he was responsible for the end-to-end delivery of all wastewater services and more than 300 treatment plants across the company.
Prior to that, Penicud was Thames Water’s head of region for the north networks, where he was accountable for the drinking water supply for more than four million North London customers.
“His leadership will support our teams as we continue to operate and maintain infrastructure that is essential to communities across a vast and diverse state,” SA Water chief executive David Ryan said.
The American Chamber of Commerce in Australia (AmCham) has appointed Mimi Crowe as general manager for South Australia.

Crowe has more than 20 years’ experience across public policy, economic development and creative industries.
She has held several high-profile roles, including as CEO of Carclew, a multi-artform institution for young people and children, and as acting Commissioner for Children and Young People SA.
Originally from the United States, Crowe will be responsible for leading AmCham’s SA operations, focusing on member engagement, strategic partnerships and the delivery of high-quality, impactful business events.
Tourism operator Journey Beyond Australia has announced the appointment of Roland Ah Chee as its new general manager, First Nations engagement and partnership.

Ah Chee is a Pertame (Southern Arrernte), Wangkungurru and Bundjalung man with more than fifteen years’ experience in senior government and private sector roles.
He was formerly a senior ministerial adviser for Aboriginal Affairs Minister and Deputy Premier Kyam Maher for more than four years where he provided high-level strategic advice on Aboriginal Affairs policy and statutory responsibilities.
Prior to that, Ah Chee was a manager and senior consultant at PwC’s Indigenous Consulting where he advised organisations and Aboriginal communities on governance, strategy, financial management and economic development.
“In his new role, Roland will be responsible for setting and delivering Journey Beyond’s whole-of-business approach to First Nations engagement and partnerships,” Journey Beyond CEO Chris Tallent said.

FMG Engineering has announced the promotion of Alice Rossiter to SA’s residential team leader.

Rossiter has spent more than 18 years in various roles at FMG, including as the firm’s principal housing and wastewater engineer, where she delivered many commercial wastewater projects across SA.
In the new role, she will lead teams on delivering residential housing, multi-residential developments including townhouse and apartment projects, and domestic pool engineering.
Prior to her time at FMG, Rossiter was a structural engineer at John Sandland and Associates where she was responsible for the supervision and training of graduate engineers carrying out structural design.
“Alice has industry-leading experience across all aspects of her larger portfolio including residential footing design and construction, to stormwater management plans and industry standard and regulatory compliance,” FMG joint managing director Matthew Loftes said.
Australian iron ore company Magnetite Mines has announced the appointment of Scott Lowe as its new board chair.

Lowe has more than 35 years’ experience across the mining and steel industries and has held multiple senior roles including CEO of Mineral Commodities.
He was recently announced as the new CEO and managing director of Magnetite Mines where he will be responsible for capital raising, stakeholder engagement and advancing resource projects through development and operational phases.
Lowe has also held senior executive roles at some of the world’s largest mining groups including BHP, South32 and ArcelorMittal.
“It is a privilege to assume the role of chair of Magnetite Mines at this important stage in the company’s development,” Lowe said.
Shona Reid will conclude her near four-year tenure as the state’s Guardian for Children and Young People to start a new role.

In the role, Reid was SA’s independent advocate for children and young people in out-of-home care and youth detention where she strengthened the office’s independent oversight body to drive systemic improvement.
She oversaw an expansion in services to increase advocacy services for children and young people, increase visits to residential care and youth detention, and greater opportunities for children and young people to access independent support.
Reid will conclude her time as Guardian for Children and Young People in August before commencing as CEO of Aboriginal Family Support Services.
“I am profoundly grateful to the hundreds of children and young people who trusted me with their journey. Their courage, honesty and resilience have shaped every piece of advocacy, every report and every recommendation made by this Office,” Reid said.
